some great ideas about vertical gardening, thanks peeps:D.
Been speaking to OH about making a kind of lean to / greenhouse in the yard. So were off to b&Q tomorrow to price up some perspex and wood.
So he's willing to build it for me as along as i sort out the yard!
So the plan is that it will be like a sauna during summer greats for toms, cucumbers etc and during the winter, fingers crossed we can have a little fire going and some salad stuff growing in there.
The greenhouse, well walk in thing we got from lidl, is totally ruined, the outer casing is shredded, poles broken and stuck together barely with duck tape. The poor thing lasted all of seven years, so had more than my monies worth already. Also might be making some kind of frame for above the doors and maybe the window. Just going to use scraps of wood etc and see what we come up with.0 -
Awh...is like a wee adventure playground for chickens ! Very nice0

I think my garden is bewitched or something, my parsley is green and lush even with -god knows what temperatures over the winter but the thyme looks like a stick, doesn't make any sense.0

This cold weather obviously also favours chives, as they are springing up left, right and centre. Also hundreds of lavender plants for some reason, all growing through the gravel of our drive. I'm going out with a trowel this weekend to pot them all up so they can go somewhere more useful.0 -
Yes he knows about naked oats, but these are not Scots oats, which is what he wants. Our oats are respectable and keep their clothes on I will have ye know !

Still haven't looked it up yet Mar got waylaid by another book!

RS love the pics:D
My thymes look decidedly dodgy too but hoping they'll come back,I know what you mean about chives..mine are going everywhere but use stacks so it can only be a good thing
Kez keep the poles from the greenhouse thingy they are so handy for making netting frames etc I use mine til they disintegrate!0 -
You're not the only one - the moss curled parsley in my garden has been going great guns over the winter while the Italian parsley which is usually much tougher has all keeled over. Tarragon is also doing its best. Sage has long since given up the ghost, and yet that used to survive everything in my old garden. Meanwhile, the rosemary is in full swing...

Oooh it's lovely to have herbs growing wild on the drive though - every time you drive over them the smell is heavenlySkint but happy with my lovely family
Hypnotherapy rocks :j0 -
I have some herbs dotted about in the back garden, including a huge bay tree and an ever increasing rosemary bush, and some out under my front window too, underneath the rambling rose, makes it smell lovely in the sitting room in the summer. The curry plant is magnificent, if only I had more uses for it - any ideas anyone?GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000

Some hand mills here (they also have electric) but a heap bit pricey for the likes of me!"Ignore the eejits...it saves your blood pressure and drives `em nuts!"0
