  • Oh, and I tend to put the cones outdoors for a couple of days (in the coal bunker) so that things which sought shelter on the forest floor can crawl out, and then I chuck them straight on the fire.....

  • Hey :j

I've been 'lurking' on this thread for a while, as in trying to read through everything before I post - but I'm too excited so thought I'd post now and ask if I can join?? :D

I live in Cardiff and have recently been diagnosed with endometriosis (I know some of you also have conditions that cause pain and exhaustion, so I'm right there with you!). I've recently changed my diet which has helped immensly with the pain (I had months where I'd be in tears daily with pain), so I don't eat wheat, dairy, sugar, soy products, caffeine - everything fun basically!!! It's really made me think about self sufficiency and how I can improve. I'm already on the MSE path but this thread is so inspiring! I currently don't have anything growing (bad) but I have plans for next year - I've mainly been foraging the last few months - sloe gin for everyone's Xmas pressies!!

I'm really into the rock and metal scene and go to gigs as much as I can!!

Anyway, enough about me - I'm going to carry on reading and posting...page 27 here I come!!!!

    xx

Hi Stoney...well done pet - really old style means taking things into your own hands and you've done that with your health. It's so easy to sit back and wait for "them" to sort it ... but one day there might be no "them" around !

Thanks Mardatha! I knew I had to do something myself when the doctors wouldn't take me seriously!! So much fun though researching and now my OH and I are planning on moving in together, the veg growing / really old style is getting more feasible - he's really into it as well!!!

Hiya stoneyg, We have something in common - I love my gigs but alas can't afford them for now - Motorhead was my last (and one of the best). Well done on sorting your diet to suit your condition! Great to see you posting

ZZ, I am knitting blue faced Leicester wool that is unwashed, and it smells nicely sheepy, not too strong, and is SO soft and cuddly its magic :)

Given up trying to catch up on all my subscribed threads, everyone's been very chatty over the weekend, but had to catch up here of course:)

My lumbago finally stopped when hubby put the heating on on Saturday. I didn't feel cold (was well wrapped up with thermals etc) but 4 hours later I was walking upright again and almost pain free so I'm guessing it was just too chilly and damp feeling for my poor muscles.

We have swept our chimney ready for winter, (brought our own brushes from B and Q a few years ago for £10, sweep had put his prices up to £70:eek: so decided to do our own from now on) and collected cones in the park for firelighters yesterday. Didn't think of bugs in them, will go check in a min!

Have been to MrS today for my 2 weekly shop (will be trying for 3 weeks next time) and whilst I am pleased not to go every week as I'm spending a lot less even allowing for popping out for fresh milk etc, it takes longer!

Looking forward to getting my sock needles on Wednesday, had to order them in from my local wool shop, did find them for 20p cheaper on ebay but I try to support local shops where possible, dont want to be left with just a massive supermarket near me:eek:

Welcome Stoney G, sounds like you have taken control of your health, good for you.

Zarazara can we have sheep pictures please. I love sheep:D
