Sorry I disagree that loss of privacy is ever a small price to pay.
It may be justified in some cases but not in this one. Boots are compiling huge amounts of data on their customers, all of which can potentially be cross referenced. As an example do they now write to those mothers who don't buy baby sunscreen? They can know who they are!0 -

i requested a new triple points on huggies card from boots and am still waiting 8 months later.
i should have followed it up but i find pampers much more manageable.
This happened to me too and I phoned up and complained and they added some points to my card and put the triple points voucher on the AC machine for me, though I tend to use pampers more as they are better0 -
The_Bargain_Hunters wrote:The Advantage of the Boots card (Pardon the pun) is if you use your card for all your purchases, especially mums, if an item is recalled, Boots send out a letter direct to you, eg the recent Parasol recall, which most mums were unaware of until they got the letter, when item is returned a full refund is given regardless of condition. Therefore a small price to pay for peace of mind regarding Quality & Safety of the products you buy.
Yeah, I bought my girls a toy crocodile in boots, before they were born in November last year. And then last month I got a letter off boots saying they were recalling them so I could take him back and get my money back. I'd not have known about it otherwise, was quite impressed that they knew I'd bought it last year.0 -

Thats fine if you are happy with it. They also know what brand and size of tampons ( or whatever) you buy. They know what minor ailments you suffer from from the OTC drugs you buy. in fact your life is an open book.
Not for me and a growing number of other people. In fact I saw a T shirt the other day that said "No I don't have a ******* loyalty card "( but it didn't bother with the ****!)0 -

So what? I don't care if its on a computer 'what size tampons I buy'! Yes your is shopping monitored but why is that a problem?
Far too umimportant to get stressed about I think.0 -

OH I'm not stressed about it a bit !! I was merely explaining to an earlier poster why people don't use the cards. Frankly I couldn't care less about those who chose to sell their personal data so cheaply. I choose not to. My choice.0 -
The fact that boots monitor what you buy means that you are more likely to recieve special offers through the advantage card machine that are relevant to you for the products that you buy. I really dont think boots are using it as some great conspiracy against their customersThe Only Thing Men Can Do Right Is Get Everything Wrong

This is an old article but should give you an idea of what is happening to your data from these loyalty cards. Data profiling has moved on and will continue to do so.0 -

Yeah, I see what you're saying, but it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'd rather have the £300 tesco vouchers a year or whatever than not. If I felt my privacy was being invaded, I'd bother, but I don't and I like having vouchers sent out to me for the stuff I buy. Even if that is a certain brand of tampax, at least it's a useful voucher off something I already buy.0 -
