Put £10 down on the table on a Friday night. Every time she slams the door you take 20p/50p (an appropriate amount based on how many times a week she does it) away from the £10, then the next Friday night when you lay down the £10 you give her the remainder of last week's £10. That'll soon focus her mind if it's costing her money every time.

    If you're poor, substitute £10 for £5 or £2.

Get those door closers - I don't think you can slam doors with those on?

Someone on the DIY board would be able to confirm.

(Cheaper than murder I would think?)

This reminds me of living in halls - I lived opposite the kitchen and so heard it more than everyone else.

Every time she slams the door she loses her toys/tv/tampons. She'll soon learn.

*Disclaimer: this may not be a brilliant idea if you have cream carpets.
  • thanks for that, i'll keep my toddler door jammers for the stroppy teenage years!

I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

The best of it is, she's not even at the stage of hormonal tantrum deliberate door slamming yet...this is just her 'normal' day to day way of closing a door.

By the time she's hit puberty and her hormones are causing mood swings, I will either have removed the doors as diable says or we will live in a tent in a field somewhere. :D

Or if you stand by your original post you might even be living the life of luxury at the expense of the tax payers and someone else will be slamming the door shut :rotfl::rotfl:

My daughter is 5 and slams her bedroom door in a temper tantrum. I am dreading her hitting puberty; I don't think the door frames will withstand it! My mum said payback is murder; apparently I used to do the same!

We've got hardly any doors in our house. The ground floor is completely open-plan, and the upstairs doors don't shut properly anyway (and if you shut the door on my son's room it jams closed - so he's learned just to leave it open). And I only ever close the bathroom door when we've got guests in the house
