So annoyed & fed up with payplan- Is it easy to self manage?

Sorry this is a bit of a rant. From day 1 we have had problems with payplan. They didnt distribute out payment for 2 months & no one received anything. We sorted that out & the payment leaves our account on the 2nd & normally shows on the just a bank website on the 6 /7th of the month. For the past 2 months it hasnt been showing by the 9th so i have had to phone them & they just say ' its been sorted now' well surprise surprise just checked online & the payment for july hasnt gone out & we are on the 8th now. I could just cry!
I have to phone them every month for different reasons. I have emailed them twice this month already to which i have received no response & i phoned them today to query why my payment hasnt gone out & it went straight through to there ' all our operators are busy now please hold' i held for 8 minutes & left a message-no one has phoned me back.
All but one of our creditors has accepted the dmp so that is the reason i havent changed to the CCCS but now im thinking i might just go it alone As i would like to be in control of my money. Also i think the budget payplan have set us is too tight & my family are suffering as a result.
Has anyone succesfully gone down this route of self managing a DMP? how did you go about doing it & how did creditors react?

Lots of people self manage, it's by no means essential that you go through a debt management company. You can write to your creditors and make offers. As you've already had a plan set up, simply offer to make the payments directly.
If they've been getting late payments from PP they may well take you up on the offer.
Interestingly, you're not the only one having troubles with Payplan at the moment https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2582517
Looks like they're up to their old tricks. Anybody else having problems?I'm a...I'm a real traditionalist of course0 -
thank you for your replys. Just checked this morning & its still not been sent over so a whole 7 days from when i sent it to them. I dont think its acceptable now, im at risk from creditors getting arsy. Think the self managed DMP is better for me x"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit, but Wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad."0

Ive heard of issues with payplan before, i would give CCCS a ago. Get a letter sent out saying payplan your DMP provider has failed to make arranged payments as such in the best interests of all parties you are moving to CCCS as the dmp provider in order to ensure prompt payments for the future.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

Hi funky
I tried talking to payplan and their budget for me was just so unrealistic I knew i would fail with them.
I spoke to all my creditors myself with the help of National Debtline and I have negotiated managable payments for me. Obv I have defaults on my credit history from one of them. They say they will agree to short term reductions for a certain period of time ie 3 or 6 months then they want to do a review.
My debts are still with the original creditors and not with any DCA's. In most cases they have stopped charges and frozen interest. You an set up SO for most payments or I just call to make mine and I have no nasty letters or phone calls as they are all getting paid.
This is only my personal experience but I found I had nothing to lose and it seems at the moment to be working for me.

PS - You also have control of your budget (i used the I and E sheet on National Debtline). The creditors might try and negotiate slightly but in my case each amount was managable. The worst cliques are those which consist of one man ~ George Bernard Shaw

Hi Funkyfish.
I must agree that my experience of Payplan was not too good either. I am now finally debt free after 13 years of agony. I opted for Payplan in 2005 but had to take matters into my own hands in 2008 as i was getting so frustrated and feeling like i was getting no where fast. On reflection i can now see that the disadvantages of using Payplan most certainly outweighed the advantages. I would agree with sunnylooloo and going through it with the support of national debt and liaising with creditors direct, at least then you know where you are and don't get any nasty surprises by being left in the dark. As you may realise too if you use the Justabank site linked to Payplan the balances are often different to what the creditors say and i think this just confuses the issue. Hope this makes sense. Good luck£23,000 debt cleared June 2010. Opted for Payplan DMP 2005, took matters into my own hands 2008 in order to clear debt speedier. Yipee I got there! :j0 -
thanks for all your help! I think i am going to 'go it alone' im going to wait until i give birth in 6 weeks ( hopefully
) & then get the ball rolling xx "Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit, but Wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad."0
