Virgin roaming charge-150% increase!!

There has been announcements lately about roaming charges being reduced in Europe. Today I found out how Virgin are getting back their lost revenue by a text I received this morning.
I work in Libya so the following charges obviously only apply there, but I'm guessing that these rates may be similar in other countries.
To ring the UK from Libya was previously billed at 1.00 pound (sorry no pound symbol on my keyboard), per minute. That has now risen to 1.70 pounds per minute. To receive a call from the UK to my Virgin phone was previously 0.50p per minute and that has now risen to 1.25 pounds per minute, hence the title.
I imagine all phone operators may be doing the same so be warned.

The networks were never going to take the cap on charges lying down but those increases are disgraceful.

I believe countries are grouped for charges, so the ones you quote probably apply to the whole of North Africa and possibly the Middle East, too. I think I'd be looking for another network provider, though.

No problem for me personally as I use Skype with a local 3G network
