New to LPG help needed pls

Options
Hi,

We have recently moved to a house with a LPG tank, which is all new as we were on mains before.

The tank is owned by calor and we have been sent out a change of ownership form. This seems to be a 2 year contract at 48.3ppl and a daily standing charge of 16.9pence. This includes £100 credit for signing for 2 years.

Not sure if this a good price/deal. Do we have to stay with calor or is it worth looking around.

Any advice from lpg users would be great

thanks

48.3p is dear plus 16.9p standing charge, maybe my maths is poor just worked out your standing charge it came out at over 5k maybe some one can say this is diifferent.
i pay at presnt 36p a ltr plus £50 a year to maintain tank with a years contract. i am on my soap box again, do not just go to the big 4 have a look for other suppliers they are out there the tank you can switch to the supplier who gives you the best quote for lpg plus a maint agreament for the tank.
and if you sign a agreament get a fixed price if you can for a year or more if its vairable be careful as once you sign the price can go up and you are stuck with the supplier for the tearm you sign up for.
have a meeting tommorow with my Mp over lpg to see if we can get a fairer deal for lpg users.

    Hi Jesleigh,

You can switch. Max contract time is 2 years.

Find suppliers in your area by putting your postcode in http://www.uklpg.org/supplier-search/

Apart from the big boys - who, I'm told, have 80% between them - there are some small independents.

Maybe look at Extra Fuel at:
http://www.extrafuel.co.uk/ to see the month's price from them. For August it's 36.94ppl.

I switched from BP to Extra Fuel in June - so Extra Fuel bought my tank from BP. Easy. Same tank, same pipework, new badge!

You can of course own your own tank but then you're responsible for all the testing, etc. Most of us pay tank rental (mine is £60 pa, underground tanks are maybe double that).

Extra Fuel subcontracted to Flogas to deliver here in Cornwall ... and Flogas were, presumably, still making money! The Flogas driver asked who Extra Fuel was: "...I'm making quite a few deliveries for them".

    Good luck!

Don't know much about supply costs, I just fit and maintain LPG gas appliances, but your standing charge works out at £61.85 for a leap year.

Can't see where the 5k came from. Perhaps it's time for a new calculator :)

Consumer direct on lpg (one page summary):

    FAQs
    http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/mon...s/lpg-faqs.pdf

Useful stuff to quote if your supplier tries a run-around! (e.g. any old contracts of over 2 years are unenforceable - but it's up to the consumer to give notice).

Sorry if you've already seen this on another thread.
