Any recommendations for freeware mp3 joiners?

I use a freeware program called MergeMP3 for this. it normally takes less than 30 seconds to merge 10-12 Mp3 files (my aging MP3 player sometimes plays rips of my audiobook CDs out of order, so I merge them).
It is distributed as a zip file and you just unzip it to a folder and click the exe. to run it - it is 'installed' with registry keys, start menu entry etc.
One point to note is that it didn't run on my ancient Windows Xp system until i ticked the 'merge using raw mode option' in preferences (look under ;view' tab).
It can be downloadwd from CNET using the following link-

Hi
With mp3DirectCut the 'append' feature was dropped after v1.51.
The current version is v2.12.
I didn't use append...
Can people please read what I said!
I really hoped I wouldn't have to spell it out, step by step since I'd already directed people to the dialog box to use....
ctrl+b
tick "join to file:"
top right of the window click "..."
find the folder with the files you want to join.
The app will populate the file list with these files
click "select folder/current folder" to the right of "Destination:"
press start.
Ta-da!They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
I use Audacity for manipulating .WAV and .FLAC, I haven't looked to see what (if anything) it can do with .mp3s, but you may want to look at it.....0

Audacity will be slower than even the slow apps we've tried, since it won't be able to join them without reencoding them. There's also the obvious loss in quality while reencoding.
Fine for wav and flac and other losslessly encoded things, but no dice for mp3.They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
