Returning goods

I bought an item from Ebay (Buy it now from a business) and realised after it arrived I couldn't use it as the pipes were the wrong size (not faulty or misdescription). I requested a return via Ebay system within 7 working days and this was on 8th June. Since then I forgot to return it. Have I left it too late? The listing stated all returns within 14 days. I can't seem to see how long I'm allowed to take.

Before anyone tells me I should have returned it before, I know but my family life is in a difficult time at the moment so more important things were on my mind.

Sorry it makes sense to me. Which part are you failing to understand? Stating that would have been more helpful. Looking at your previous posts I see sarcastic, unhelpful replies are a habit you have so please don't feel the need to reply again.

i'd email the seller and explain your situtation, i have returned something over 14 days after the auction and the seller was fine, even refunded the return postage which a lot of them dont do

Thanks. I assume he may think I've used the item and now don't want it. I'm not sure if he'd be able to tell but obviously before I send it back he definitely wouldn't know.

Under the Distance Selling Regulations 2000, you have 7 days, after receipt of the goods, to NOTIFY the seller you wish to return the item, you don't have to actually return it within this period, in fact you can have upto 30 days.

So is it 30 days ater they arrived or 30 days ater you notified them that you are going to return?

3.46 As soon as possible after the consumer cancels, and in any case within 30 days at the latest. You must refund the consumer’s money even if you have not yet collected the goods or had them returned to you by the consumer. You cannot insist on the goods being received by you before you make a refund. See also paragraph 3.64.

Yes I did read that but that is about their obligation to refund menot me returning it. From that I ASSUMED it meant I didn't have to return within 30 days but I'd like to be sure before I go ahead and post.

From my link in post #8, read under the heading;- "Whose responsibility is it to look after the goods if an order is cancelled? ", page 28 sections 3.60, 3.61, 3.62, 3.63, 3.64.

Actually to be accurate they have to refund you within 30 days of cancelling but this cannot be linked to your return of the goods, in theory you could take as long as you want.
