Samsung Wave - Should I Get One?

I currently have a HTC Desire. I love the HTC Desire, but the phone is wasted on me considering I use only a small percentage of it's features. All I want is a touchscreen phone with a half decent camera and basic features. It seems like the Samsung Wave fits the bill because AMOLED is a must (I don't know how people survived for so long without AMOLED).
  1. Should I get a Samsung Wave, does anyone else own one and can you share your experiences?
  2. The best offer I have found (has to be Voda UK) is CPW 24 mnths @ £25 with free phone, 600 mins and unlimited sms. Does anyone know of a better offer on Voda UK?

The lack of apps is not something that would really bother me. I had an iPhone 3Gs for over a year and I've had my HTC Desire for a few months - I never downloaded any apps for either. The only features I ever use is making calls, sending sms, using the camera for pictures and video, calendar for appointment reminders etc, music player for listening to music while I'm at the gym and the browser for the internet, that's about it! So, as you can see, high-end smartphones are completely wasted on me :)

I've had one for a week. Yes there is a lack of apps, but i really do love the phone. The camera is very good, I used it a lot when I went out last Friday. The flash is great and the battery lasted well (I get snap happy while out lol). not sure about the calendar, not used it yet. It's similar to the iPhone in that the texts show up as a conversation so you can see what the other person has said while you reply :)

Thanks for that. I'm expecting delivery any time today. Fingers crossed it lives up to my extremely low expectations lol.

Well my new Samsung Wave arrived and I have had a few days to put it through it's paces. Here is my honest opinion - I'm impressed!

It's a good looking phone and it's a nice size and weight. The colours on the Super AMOLED screen are amazing and the touchscreen is very responsive and easy to use. Using the on-screen keyboard was a joy, even for someone with fat fingers like me. The new BADA OS this phone is using is quite impressive for a first attempt by Samsung, however it could be improved. I am sure we will see some major improvements and additions in future releases of this OS. The sound quality in calls is very good and the sound quality from the speakers is loud and clear. The camera creates very good images, however the most impressive camera feature is the 720p HD Video Recording.

In summary, this phone is exactly what I have been looking for. I wanted a simple smartphone with basic features and in the Samsung Wave I got exactly that and more. I think iPhone and Android might just be keeping a close eye on BADA and what Samsung has planned for the future because, if this first offering is anything to go by, Samsung could become one of the big players in the smartphone market!
