Parking ticket issue

I parked my car outside the train station today in a seemingly fine place to park, only to return to a parking ticket for the offence 'The vehicle was waiting in a restricted road (Section 5,11 or 16 of the *Act) (Clearway Offence)'.
It was parked on the opposite side of the road from a keep clear message printed on the road but it stopped before my tyres and there are no yellow lines on the side that I parked on. As far as I'm concerned the keep clear was on the other side of the road. It was also parked at a corner, perhaps two to three feet from the end.
Can someone please tell me if I will win an appeal? The fine is only £30 so don't want to go to court only to get hit with hundreds of pounds and fees. I have taken pictures but when I went to the Police station the Officer told me I could have moved the car.
I should mention this would be dealt with in Scottish law as the alleged offence is in Lanarkshire.

Who gave you the ticket?I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

It was a traffic warden. It's a Strathclyde Police fixed penalty notice.0

arfc,
From the information given I would say pay it. There is no 'right to park' on the highway and being that close to the junction is enough for obstruction in any event.
There are no regulations associated with the KEEP CLEAR text on the road, see the TSRGD.
If you go to court I cannot see how you can win. I would cut my losses, pay the thirty pounds and put it behind me.0 -
I would pay an FPN from the Police, it was maybe because you were too close to the corner (obstruction).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The offence committed was this:
'The vehicle was waiting in a restricted road (Section 5,11 or 16 of the *Act) (Clearway Offence)'."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
That is merely the text on the FPN. Once in court the contents of the FPN are immaterial (I believe this is true in Scotland, it is so in England and Wales. I do not 'do' Scotland).0

Despite there being no paint on the part of the road on which you parked, did you pass this sign
at any point before you parked?
The name of the road in Lanarkshire would be a great help.0 -
It is Riddell Street at Coatdyke train station. There are no signs at all. I spoke to the Sergeant at Coatbridge Police station today and he confirmed it was for parking in the keep clear box. I have photos which clearly show I'm not...0

Hmmm...you could try posting a new thread on pepipoo here, for advice:
http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=30
Tell them everything you have told us and read their sticky threads 'read this first!' and 'how to post images'. Include in your first post all the info and the photos you have (numberplate blanked out) using tinypic as per their forum posting rules.
It is a difficult one because unless you can convince the boys in blue to cancel the ticket then your only route for appeal is in the Magistrates' Court. It's not as easy as appealing a Council PCN, which is why the usual advice to a Police FPN is to pay it.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
