I didn't either. I thought the arm / wrist had to be x-rayed?Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I agree with KxMx, you didn't see an orthopaedic surgeon.TO be fair, I dont think im that bad, to be given injections or surgery, the ortho said this too, that it was not even near haveing that kind of treatment. I just need to manage it now.
I am pretty sure that you shouldn't have injections or surgery right now but you should still have proper investigations now. I saw a hand surgeon, he did blood tests and x-rays. Some while later I saw another hand surgeon, who x-rayed my neck. (Both were NHS. But I think you may have to see a consultant privately.)
And as for managing it, well, you need the right information and advice, as what to do for the best depends on the condition, and there are different types of RSI. Wrist splints help some people, not others. Mouse wrist supports, too. And the wrong kind of 'managing' can make things worse.
Before you do any more thinking about leaving your job, talk to the CAB and also see if you can get free advice from a solicitor.
There are RSI support groups, I can't post links here but if you go to rsiaction dot org dot uk you'll find a list. If you don't live near one 'phone the Manchester one.
Sorry not to be able to be more help, RSI can be miserable, it was for me for ages. I hope your new GP is better, mine have always been really good about RSI.0 -
thanks everyone.
and it didnt help my employer situation, they were like "oh well, you are clearly ok, doctors have said there is nothing wrong".
And yet my everyday life is affected, making food, driving, computer, washing up, the wrist weakness is ever present. Im very carefull ALL the time, even when sleeping, not bending the wrist, protecting it.
Hand surgeon, x-rays, blood tests, I wish i had that. I did ask for a blood test, and doctor ok'd it, but when i saw the nurse, the nurse said its was only a blood test for a couple of things, eg only looking for basic inconsistancies/signs. They said blood test was ok.
Yes neck, when i was seeing physio (a prior time) she said it sounded like the problem was in spine or neck, and not so much the arms/wrists.
Well now i just slow right down when i sense/feel discomfort. Lately i feel a slight twitch just above elbow (mouse hand).
Ive read up alot on internet, so i know general advice. Which has helped MUCH more than the NHS!
The only help ive had is my own research on internet and forums.
I told "orthopaedic" would wrist brace help, as when i squeeze my wrist, i feel slight relief, he said NO, as i would become reliant on it.
I think going gym and doing light excercie, cardio, bit of weights, helps. Arms and body feels stronger.
I dont do heavy excessive stuff. Some medics said do not go gym, some said it was fine. Ive had to make my
own mind up with all this stuff.
Youve all been a great help. Bless you all.
Yes RSi and feeling the affects of work and ageing can be a stark reminder.0
