Gay asylum seekers from Iran and Cameroon win appeal

I've been following this story with interest.

In future the UK will now home everyone who currently lives in a country where it is illegal to be to be gay on grounds of asylum.

Previously the courts held that people claiming asylum could only do so on grounds of the likely hood of torture, imprisonment or death.

Note, this is different to immigration. So whereas a cap may be placed on the level of immigration there will be a sustained influx of asylum seekers claiming to be gay from anywhere where it's frowned upon.

Keep an eye on house prices in Brighton. Oh and try and keep TWH away from this thread.

Lesbos closes all ports and airports.

Thinking about it, it's a risky one if you are denied asylum though.

How do we know they're gay? How do you know I'm not?

How many people are you trying to offend in this thread? Just out of interest?

Would you rather gay people were stoned?

Frankly, seems like a pretty good reason for asylum in my book.

I disagree Carol, IMO They should claim asylum in the first free country they get to. The vast majority of the asylum seekers have broken international law in getting here and should be deported back to the country they came here from......

We should not be the conscience/ free ride for many countries around the world.....Send them home I say and sooner the better.......

I would also add Im not Homophobic , I have friends and customers who are gay/lesbian.... This is purely down to economics .......

How do they prove they're gay? Isn't the system open to abuse. :)

Not really, but they can take drugs if they want.:)

Personally I think sexuality is an odd one for asylum, not saying they are not at risk but obviously it is open to manipluation more so that colour or etnic backgound . We should be pressing these areas to change their human rights more IMHO.

Let's not forget this is partly helping such countries with their goals to drive out people they don't want. Imagine being forced out of your country to another one just because of your sexuality.

While we support such asylum we should also put tough sanctions in against such countries.

The asylum system should be drastically reduced and have a strict quota, once reached the door should be shut.
Those who fail should be deported there and then.

Actually it makes me quite proud of the tolerant society we live in/lived in before the Tories gained power.
