mobile phone insurance
is this really worth it, or just a con??
I finally have a brand new phone samsung z400, and I'd like to insure it, but o2 charge an extra £5 a month for proper full coverage. that makes my cost £30 a month, as my contract is £25.
I'm trying to save money, not spend more.
what can I do?

It depends on what you do really. If your careful with the phone then you might get away with not having it, thats what i did and now my phone is uninsured and has been for over 3 months...an alternative to insuring your phone? be extra careful0

My friend who needs his phone for his work, he is self employed his monthly bill is in excess of £150 and sometimes double that, decided that he was going to save some money (£7.50p per month) and not renew his insurance, well sods law he dropped it and it broke he took it into CPW got it fixed, he was without the phone for 10 days then on the way home after collecting it he lost it, but the git who found it ran up a huge bill so now he insures it.........Aiming to be debt free....but still off target0 -
In the long run you will be far better off never taking out any insurance for anything other than house, car insurance and maybe travel insurance.Join the Sarcasm Appreciation Society.

Your phone will probably be covered for loss/theft under 'items away from the home' on your contents insurance. If you have accidental damage then you should be covered for dropping the phone as well. (Subject to excess of course).
I would check your contents policy - it's a lot of money for cover on a single item. Some people get so rich they lose all respect for humanity.
That's how rich I want to be.
But until then - best wishes - Mike.
