You can use any fruit. I made some with frozen blackcurrants. The blackcurrants can be used in muffins. Lemoncello the Italian liquer is made the same way but using more sugar.
I also bring back cheap vodka from holidays the last lot cost less than 5 euro for a litre.

In the summer I made raspberry and strawberry vodka, just fill a bottle / kilner type jar with fruit, add a few shakes of sugar and top up with vodka. VERY nice, don't forget to hide the boozy fruit for a treat after a hard days work! Also lemon vodk is lovely, stab the lemons first.0

Should say as a more useful contribution that sometimes the Britta filters can be found in supermarkets on a special reduced price and you can also buy filters in Lidl and Aldi at times which fit the Britta system but are of course cheaper.
I'll leave testing these up to someone who can miss a lecture or two!0
