Will you change your name on your passport before your honeymoon?

I wasn't planning to do this untill after I was married.
However, I've just checked my passport & I've seen that it expires 2 weeks before the Wedding, so I need to renew it anyway.
Apparently you can put your new name on your passport upto 3 months beofre you get married.
It'll feel weird using the name before it's technically "mine" but there's no way the MSE me would renew the passport with my current surname, then pay again to change it!
For those of you who don't *need* to change it before the wedding, would any of you do it?
guess it might be more helpful for getting honeymoon upgrades?!

I am!
I cant wait til I get to go up to that check-in desk and have them go 'thank you Mrs H, have a lovely trip'
Gives me goosebumps thinking about it lol!:kisses2: Getting Married 5th November 2011 :kisses2:0 -
Mine's got 5 years left on it, so I won't be a Mrs on it till 2015!
I wouldn't pay for a new one just to change my name on it, we're going on holiday next week and then away again for our honeymoon in October and that's costing enough.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
it will be strange for you wont it but the only place youll change it before your wed is on your passport and your tickets-dont forget they must be the same name or you wont be allowed to go anywhere
ive just checked mine and it expires the november after we wed but we want to honeymoon in oct halfterm which is usually the last week in october, do i risk it:eek: or not:oI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -

That's really important, for anyone thinking of changing their passport before the wedding, but who have already booked their honeymoon!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I had to renew mine last month, and I'm getting married abroad in April, so I will have nearly 10 years in my maiden name, as they wanted to charge for a full new passport if I wanted to change my name. It's annoying, as I'll have to remember to book all of our travel with my maiden name, and if we have kids, I'll be the only one with the "wrong" name! Passport office were very unhelpful about this, despite the fact that I'd only have had my new passport for 10 months, before the name change!Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

I havent but only because we booked our holiday before we decided to get married on it, so it's booked in my Maiden name. So can't change the name on the booking without a pain in the !!! now!
My passport expires in 2014 and I don't think we'll go abroad before then so will probably keep it until then
Won't change my driving license yet either as we're hoping to move next year so will wait till I do that

I cant change it in advance of the wedding as i need a visa for our honeymoon and the Chinese wont issue a visa in advance on a not yet valid passport. We cant spare the time after the wedding to get the passport changed and then start applying for visas.
I have 2 years on my passport but will be getting it changed before it expires, i dont want the hassle of having to remember to book things in maiden name and not being able to use it as ID because the name on passport is different to my married name which i'll be using day to day.:jProud mummy to a beautiful baby girl born 22/12/11 :j0 -
Nope, because you don't need a passport for England!

And maybe not until it expires - I've got about 4 years to go so will wait until after the event & decide then

Yup - I used to book flights for people at work & had to change them as the girls used their maiden names professionally!
At least I'm not too superstitious, so I wont think its a jinx!
The only downside is that I wont be able to wind up the OH about whether or not I'll take his name on the day
