o2 trying to charge me £99!

Hi guys

Can anyone help me out with this please? I have an 18 month contract with O2 which started in May. I have also taken out O2 insure on my phone. However, about 2 weeks ago I was having problems with the phone and had to send it back to them. They have got back to me with a figure of £99 for a new handset. They said it was "out of warranty" so I have to pay. Surely the insurance should pay for this?

Any advice greatly appreciated. Thx

The insurance should pay for an accidental damage etc. But are they saying it's down to ware and tear ? (which isn't covered by the insurance).

How could it be wear and tear when it's less than 2 months old?

Depend on how it been treated! I'm not saying you've abused it, but some phone aren't treated 'well' shall we say.

I think you need to contact O2 and find out the reason for the charge ? It maybe a error, someone may have typed the wrong date into the system when it got to O2. Or they may have misunderstood why it's been sent back ?

I agree with Jon 01. The most common "get out" is water damage which they detect by looking at some colour strip on most phones. Find out why they are rejecting your claim - i.e.what grounds - first.
