CAR problems after changing spark plugs
Comments

Taking plugs out and spinning engine over will do nothing,if it was crap that would come out like that then it would have got burnt and gone down exhaust.if it was something that would not be burnt then it would not come out plug hole spinning over it will be embedded in piston or head.
As you say plugs that went in were slightly longer than ones removed that would have alerted me to the fact they are not right for your engine, you say they are compatible for a ka but I say not, either for a different engine or model year.
Suggest you get some plugs that are same make/number as ones removed as it sounds very much like you have a misfire.0 -
also dont drive it with a misfire as the unburnt fuel will damage the cat.
as said it seems the plugs maybe wrong for your car0 -
Sounds to me like 2 possibilities. Incorrect longer plugs fitted in which case the pistion may have hit the electrode and closed the gap, or the plugs have not screwed down fully due to being longer and sitting in carbon. The noise would come from the leak at the plug thread caused by this. The little ford ka is very prone to seized plug/thread issues.;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
I will go to halfords today and get compatible plugs after giving my reg number and give that a try. I asked my friend who said that the longer plugs shouldn't make a difference an Hr supposedly has worked on cars for 15 years!!0

You said you put the old ones back in and didn't cure the misfire?0 -
I presume that the problem didn't exist before you changed plugs. If therefore you replace the old plugs into the engine, and the problem persists then the cause is not the new plugs.
Then I would suggest looking at the leads and if taking one lead off at a time doesn't make the problem worse, they may be the cause. before replacing the leads (not an easy job as you have to get underneath the car to replace the coils ends of the leads!) are you confident that each plug lead cap "clicks" firmly over the top of each spark plug? If the answer is yes, then I'd replace the ignition leads, or get a diagnostic check done - costs about £50 - £60.
Good luck,

Problem #2 - your 'friend' in the trade for 15years says plug length makes no odds? Was he a valeter? You could quite easily do the plug damage if it's too long. Wiki diagram to help... Plug too long will get mashed by piston.:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Please don't be offended if that opinion differs from yours, but feel free to click the 'Thanks' button if it's at all helpful!0 -

i have never heard such rubbish!! worked on cars for 15 years yet thinks a longer plug will not make a difference,if that was the case there would be no need for ngk, bosch etc to make so many different types of plug.0
