Query about HTC Desire from Mobile Phones Direct

They seem to be the only retailer with stock at the moment. However their deals aren't the greatest.

But they are offering the Desire for free on an 18 month contract with 300 mins, unlimited texts but no internet.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but surely I can either:

a) Phone up and attempt to haggle to get the 3g, which is supposedly free for all Android phones

or b) If the worst happens simply switch my Free Booster from unlimited texts (which I assume will revert to 300 texts) to unlimited internet.

Does this seem plausible?

I got mine with them and only found out after that the booster was the internet (i had planned to have it as unlimited landline calls) i was about to send it back and had boxed it up when i decided to call t-mobile and they were agreed that as it was an android handset i should have the internet as standard (once they agreed that i pointed out that it should be 3gb which they also then agreed) and that i could choose unlimted landlines as my booster.

So you could always order then see what t-mobile have to say as you have 7 days to decide if you want to keep it.

    Hi

Did you end up getting the phone through Mobile Phones Direct with that deal? If so, were you able to ring up T-Mobile and get the internet data?

As per a thread I started on here a few days ago, I had been thinking of purchasing the phone Sim Free and using my current PAYG sim card, but after a bit of thinking over the past few days believe a contract may be the way to go as it will probably work out to cost the same (after taking into account topping up with credit), but I'd be spreading the cost over 18 months rather than paying out £350 + now.

    Thanks
    Paul

Have you tried other retailers such as the Carphone Warehouse, T-Mobile Phone 4U etc etc for the HTC Desire.

    Carphone Warehouse:

    Monthly deal -from £25 http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/mobiles/mobile-phones/HTC-DESIRE/MONTHLY

    Pay & Go deal http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/mobiles/mobile-phones/HTC-DESIRE/PPAY

    Handset only deal http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/mobiles/mobile-phones/HTC-DESIRE/HANDSET

    T-Mobile:

    Monthly deal - from £30 http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/pay-monthly/htc-desire/
