You can claim child benefit, child tax credits and child support from the father when the baby is born.
    *SIGH*

As other poster said... you will get Child benefit (£18 approx pw) Child tax credits (£?? depending on circumstances) which will be split between a payment for being a lone parent versus the family element and a higher amount because is under 1yo. You will also get given a one off payment of £190 from the Surestart (I think that is still happening) and yes you can claim money from Father even though he is on JSA.
Other than that you will have any redundancy pay that you can get which could cover you for the next few months before you go looking for work.

I am really confused now...... are you single or with a partner... are you pregnant or is your partner pregnant..... are you male or female...... are you making your posts up!!!!

ok im male+not making posts up.
im asking for my wife(we are separated).
her mum ceased trading so no redundancy,
she has already had the £190 grant+shes not had any pay since 20/5/10,because her mum ceased trading theres been hassle with hmrc about mat.allowance(her employer/mum has no money to pay it)
as they dont use this site,im using it for her.
    baby due 19/7/10.
    hope this answers your questions.

You and your wife don't sound very separated in the posts you have both written recently!

i came on her to ask a few questions,i cant see what thats got to do with other posts,
its easier for me to ask as if i were the person needing advice,as my wife has not got a pc,
    i hope this is allowed.
it would be easier if we were together, but since i lost our house+had to go bankrupt,im staying with my sister, but heres hoping that when baby comes along we can maybe get back together.

The point is that the advice you have been given is for a lone parent. As it sounds very much as if this isn't the case

"hi my wife is due our first baby on 19/7/10,
we've got a lot of new clothes hanging in his wardrobe,we've been buying these over the last few months"

you will be committing benefit fraud if you (or your wife) proceed as if you are. Even if you aren't living under the same roof doesn't mean that you won't be assessed as a couple for benefits purposes.

if we are not living in the same house+not sleeping together surely that makes her a lone parent?

No actually it does not. You are man and wife, a couple, you are just not living in the same house atm for 'various' reasons.

You do know when the baby arrives you should declare you are a couple on the tax credits application and for any other benefit appications.

Sure are a lot of people in your family going bankrupt/insolvent!

i went bankrupt/insolvent because of gambling debts,my motherinlaw was only considering it but decided against it,
im sure there has been other people who went bankrupt/insolvent the same as other family member.
i dont think you can get rejected for bankruptcy if one of your family member are bankrupt/insolvent.
    correct me if im wrong,
