  • It's on post 3:
Fruit yum: Simply porridge made with ground millet and milk and a gated pear or apple added. It is very sweet and gluten free so also serves as a good weaning food.

It's very different to oat porridge, with a much sweeter taste and more grainy texture, but it's a hit with my 2 year old.

Thanks Gingham. Apologies for making you repeat this. I read that post as well but was distracted by the sausage casserole!!

    Thanks again

    Eerrrrmmmmmm, and me!

So much so that I've just been to Asda to get some veggie sausages :rotfl:

I'm all inspired! I've never tried a sausage casserole.

I do have a plan though - I'll post back later to let you know how it goes. I'm cooking the sausage casserole & am going to dish it up. I'll pretend I'm cooking something else for myself later. I wonder how long it'll take them to realise the sausages are veggie? I really cannot remember what meat sausages taste like & I'm hoping that as they are in a casserole they 'might' not notice the difference :D

I bet my husband does

  • LOL Quackers! What kind did you get?

    Cauldron Lancashire.

They were in the reduced fridge :D

I really like Cauldron stuff though - its really nice.

I prefer the cumberland ones as they are spicy but they weren't reduced :rotfl:

  • The spicy ones are good in this as the flavour comes out in the sauce, but the others are good too. I hope I've explained it okay and it comes out well. I'm feeling all nervous! (I've never pretended to be a cook!)

I'd like to add my thanks to GR for all these wonderful recipes. I am the only vegetarian in a family of meat eaters and by the time I've cooked the family's meals I don't always bother with much myself, but you've inspired me to cook again with your tasty easy to cook recipes which I'm hoping I'll be able to tempt at least my kids with, if not my OH.

They probably will notice, from what I remember of real meat sausages, the Veg ones taste a lot nicer.

    Good luck.
  • I'm really looking forward to trying some of these veggie dishes! :D Even boyf, who is a "must have meat in every meal" kinda guy, said he'd try them!!

    Well, It was delicious :j

I didn't do root veg though as I had peppers that needed using up so I added 2 peppers, courgettes & a tin of flagelot beans, as well as the onion, sausages, passata & stock. oh, and some mixed herbs.

When Mr Quackers went off to the kitchen to get some more I told the girls who were in hysterics by the time he came back. He then guessed. Although he said he'd known all along as he could tell by the texture and was just playing along  He'd NEVER admit to not knowing 'cos he does like to be right!

He did enjoy it though and said he'd eat it again.

    We had it with mash.

I'm going to do it with root veggies next time :)

Thanks for the inspiration Gingham :D
