What right do i have?
I previously held T mobile contracts lines(2 of them) for years. Because of better deals other network were offering, i told them i'm moving but wanted to keep my numbers on a PAYG. They were playing games with me. I then cancelled my direct debit. For about 2 months, i discovered that, i cannot even receive calls on the lines even though they charged me.
They later told me, i can move on but the number is cancelled and that no one will have that numbers again. I was furious because i have been using the number for years. All these happen mid-last year. About 4 people had called me that someone else is NOW using the numbers, though i have NOT checked.
What right do i have on this?
Cheers

If you stopped the DD, then none. That was the worst thing you could do whatever the reason. That put you in breach of contract, the network can cut for off for none payment and cancel you numbers (check your T&C's).
The numbers would have gone into the hold pot for 6 months and then either returned to the network they were issued on (if they'd been ported) or returned to the available number pot.0 -
I don't quite understand the sequence of events.
1. You got annoyed with them and cancelled your direct debit.
2. 2 months later, you claim they've charged you? So the charge is still sitting on your account as unpaid, as they haven't been able to take payment from your direct debit?
3. Did you actually request to cancel? If so, once actioned you lose your number if you don't request a PAC code to move it to another network or convert to PAYG.
4. This all happened a year ago!!!
Since you've left it this long without taking action, its obvious those numbers are infrequently used. So I would suggest you get a new number and hand it out to the few people that call it. Its not like you "really" missed using it.0 -
I think the OP has the right to 'remain silent'.

For 9 years i never had problem with them for once. The main issue was nearly all other networks are offering something better. my contract was due for renewal and i told them i'm not renew but intend to convert the numbers to PAYG.
They promised to call back. They tried to lure me into a new contract but i decline. Then i cancel my DD. For few months my phone still shows the "Tmobile" logo but no calls came in neither do was i able to call. I contacted them. They asked me to pay for the 2 months(even though i did not use the service). I did payed. They now told me i've lost the number and the number will never be given to anybody.0 -
There's your problem. You got nothing in writing either from them or to them. Some CS person didn't either fully understand you or didn't do their job properly and didn't transfer you to PAYG.
You can demand they search their records if you can establish when you called them - (check your relevant bill for the date and time you called). You tacitly accepted that you didn't cancel/transfer to PAYG when you paid the 2 months' rental.
I think you may have lost the number now, though. But it isn't the end of the world - just let you mates know the new number with the free texts you will be getting from the new deal you are signing.0 -
I have moved on but there could be many friends who have gone abroad and who may at a time contact me.
The most annoying thing is giving the number to someone else.0
