Cancelling Virgin Media - My rights
Trick
i have recently contacted virgin media to cancel my package. they have advised i entered into a new contract last September 2009 because I had a HD Box sent. I had previously been with them for 2 years. They did not mention anything verbally about entering into a new contract or did not send me any paperwork to sign.
They are now trying to charge me 2 months to cancel my services, without providing me any proof of me agreeing to a new contract, where do I stand on this?
As far as I am concerned, no contract was entered into as nothing was stated to me nor did I sign anything. I have tried talking to a "manager" but they are never available when i call...hmm!

Be firm with them - ask them where does it state specifically you have entered into a new contract by keeping the equipment in the terms and conditions. I was in a similar situation yesterday and sent an e-mail to complaints last night. in the morning VM rang me to say they had made a mistake and I was no longer under contract and I did not have to pay a cancellation fee! I can cut'n'paste the e-mail if you like.0

Thanks for your response. that would be great if you can cut n paste the email.0

With VM any change of tariff or conditions restarts your contract, so supplying a new HD box may well trigger this clause-consult the small print. No free lunch, and no free laptop

i have been in contact with virgin to cancel my package
broadband phone and tv. I have been with ntl before virgin bought them over. so i thought no contract to cancel. I have been told that i need to give them 30 days notice in order to cancel my package. Had some guy tell me that although they did not have a copy of any contract that i had signed in order for me to give this notice, he stated that by letting their engineers in to give me the virgin box i somehow agreed to a rolling contract, which meant that i had to give 30 days notice,
can anybody shine some light on this, it sounds totally fishy to me.0 -
30 days is standard to cancel your Virgin Media account mmcgill and has been for years. The majority of companies ask for notice to cease service and Virgin Media have always set a 30 day period. My advice would have been to either check online or ring them up to enquire about the cancellation process well before you actually went ahead with it just so you had the information you needed.0
