Port from Orange through third party to Orange?

I think the answer to this is no - but thought I'd double check.

I've currently got my phone with Orange, I'm looking to get a new deal and have discovered I can get a better deal (still with Orange) by shopping around. I've asked Orange but they can't beat it.

Anyway, I'd really like to keep my number - can I do it? Or would I have to go with a different provider?

Thanks very much - sorry for the silly question.

:o

I've found the answer on a website - and no it's not possible (which is what I thought) - cause this would just be an upgrade.

Don't quote me on this but I believe that when you cancel your contract you can ask them to swap you onto a PAYG tariff, then after a month or so you can start a new contract and transfer the number across.

I may be wrong though but I'm sure someone will be along to confirm this shortly.

Get your pac, go to another networks payg. Start new contract, get pac for payg, port back to Orange. Job done. People do it everyday. . .
