hope you get it sorted . take heart it is not as bad as my problem .

cat wee'd in the corner , and now it has left the carpet , the skirting board and door frame with a very nasty smell .

i have had to lift up the carpet and remove Underlay and gripper boards and disinfect the entire floor below . and had to remove some skirting board and door frame too . looks like i will have to chisel some more out tomorrow .

forget anything you can buy in Tesco's , nothing can touch it or get rid of the smell .Don't try Bleach , Don't try Vinegar , don't try Fabreeze , don't try baking soda, don't try disinfectant your just wasting your money trying them on a mattress . by the time you figure out they won't work you will have wasted a chunk of cash that could go towards a new mattress .

i have ordered this to attempt to save the carpet and cleanse the floor .

    http://www.crystalclearpet.com/shop/aip/aip_buy.htm

i keep fish and know that only live Bacteria destroys their urine , basically to get the smell out you are going to have to do the same . the store above showed out of stock but i rang up today and a very helpful guy called Roy said he had some coming into stock 1st thing next week and has placed a order for me , to arrive on Tuesday .

i have also ordered some this to seal the floor when i eventually get the smell off it .

right now i am so sick of the smell i am half tempted to rip up the entire carpet and throw it in the bin . trouble is it's £50 a Sq Meter to replace like for like .:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

and i have make sure the floor below is odor free before doing anything .

i love my cat , but right now she is not in my affections .

will let you know how it goes if you like .

That's what I was told too, the Xeria RX66 stuff I linked to has 60 billion enzyme producing bacteria per litre

"Synergistic blend of over 60 billion live enzyme producing bacteria per litre chosen for their ability to digest organic matter that cause foul odours

PROFESSIONAL GRADE RX66 contains only good bacteria designed to remove foul odours and stubborn stains by bio-enzymatic action. When the good bacteria in RX66 come in contact with organic matter, they act like sponges to absorb it. Then enzymes produced by the bacteria liquefy and literally digest the matter as their food. In the process, nothing more is produced than harmless carbon dioxide, water and more enzymes. RX66 has broad spectrum effectiveness – the synergistic blend of cultures including Bacillus licheniformis, Bacillus subtilus and Baccilus polymyxa are effective across a wide range of organic matter. The certified 60 billion enzyme producing bacteria per litre is extremely important because the thoroughness and speed with which an enzyme producing product digest stains and the cause of odours is directly related to its bacteria count. RX66 is environmentally safe – cells that have multiplied during the use of RX66 are a help in cesspits, sewage farms and waste treatment plants because they help to seed bio-degradation of other waste. Certified salmonella free and bio-degradable."

We tried EVERYTHING when a friend's daughter wet the bed and we could not get the smell out. Ditch it, claim on the accidental damage on your house insurance and get a new mattress. If it's a decent mattress then worth the excess on the policy to claim for replacement.

Thanks guys, will give that a look!
I'm afraid we don't have insurance. Silly i know, but just can't afford it. We don't have much, and the mattress was one of those "once in a very rare blue moon moments"

Anti Icky Poo cleaner came today as promised ,and i have drowned the effected bit of Carpet , as it directs .

Liquid smells pleasant and it has pretty much eliminated the smell straight away . if it stays that way when the sun comes back out , will be the real test .

    So far so good .

Kittens peed on the sofa - tried everything and the only way I could get rid of the smell was to put the cushions in the bath with biological washing powder, get in a tread wash them (I did wash my feet very well after though)!!

Took almost a week to dry but nothing else I tried worked - all it did was mask the smell which came through again as soon as the sun shone into the room.

Very similar to what happened to our cat. Aware of a smell in the front room, but it wasn't pungent. Trouble was, she had done it behind the TV. We wondered why we didn't hear from some CH engineers for quote for a new boiler! But, later builders were doing some replastering in the room, made a point of spraying air freshener! When they finished we checked under the carpet - which a thick pile one - in places it was damp to touch, found it went right through the carpet and newspapers (between it and the floorboards). I cut it up into pieces and took them down the 'dump' and ordered a new one. I seemed to remember rubbing in a thick dollop of furniture polish in to the floorboards.
After that the room was off-limits at night to the cat.
Still a problem? Not as far as we know, but then again we don't live there anymore.
And the cat - said good-bye to her, about four years later.

    I've heard good things about this stuff - 'RX66 Bio-Enzymatic Sub-Surface odour digester' http://www.xeria.co.uk/kolist45/1/Pets/12/RX66HS.htm

It's a professional grade odour remover, they make products to deal with dead animals, bodily fluids etc so definitely have the odour pedigree!

This sounds good and cheaper than the other one posted bit confused with the instructions though "To digest odours in carpets, upholstery etc: Dilute RX66 at 100ml per litre in a spray bottle. Test fabrics for colour fastness. If colour fast, spray solution onto affected area and use to clean. Spray liberally with full strength RX66 until area is saturated & allow to sit for 1-3 hours to allow colony of good bacteria to digest stains and foul odours. Cover with plastic to retard drying. Rinse with water and remove with wet vacuum or blot with dry towel. "

you clean it with diluted spray and then spray it full strength?wouldn't it be better to just use it full strength? my cat peed on my suite.

Yep, I was a bit confused at first. I read it that the diluted solution is used to clean the area first so if you had something that had stained (it doesn't just work on wee!) you would clean it first with the diluted solution. Then you spray the full strength stuff on and leave to work it's magic for 3 hours covered by plastic.

The person who recommended it to me used it on their sofa and it worked.
