please help - new laptop question

hi

ok so my mom is looking to buy a new laptop, she really likes the following one from argos

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5081505/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7COffice%252C%2BPCs%2Band%2Bphones%7C14418968/c_2/3%7C15701344%7CLaptops%2Band%2BNetbooks%7C16164797/c_3/4%7Ccat_16164797%7CLaptops%7C16164800.htm

the problem is she needs one that has a dvd writer and argos seem to say it doesnt but then other websites say it does. please can someone confirm either way.

alternately any suggestions as to a good one from argos for around 400 would be great (has to be argos as she has vouchers)

thanks for any help

The laptop you mention has the old Windows Vista and a very slow processor, although it is lighter, more portable and has longer battery life than average. Argos has many laptops just below £400 such as the Acer Aspire 5732Z that have more powerful processors and the better Windows 7 operating system.

£400 for that piece of crap???

Even the rip off group of comapanies generally known as DSG have much better offerings for less money.

I recommend that she gets a Toshiba. Once she is happy with it, say after a month or so, she should go to the Toshiba website and extend the guarantee by another two years including Data Recovery for around £50. Most useful for the novice.

    Example: Toshiba Satellite L500-1XC.

Toshiba website Press F5 if the page has expired.

You are wrong about that too. Are you just posting nonsense in the hope that soon you will be able to post links?

thanks for the advice, guess thats not the best laptop she can get for her money then.

the only criteria she really needs are as follows

    dvd writer
    wireless
    windows 7
she would prefer to have a numerical pad
    word processor package

    any ideas ?
