Where to get 'the jacket' to beat budget airline fees

At the risk of stirring things up I have yet to understand why airlines don't impose a 'total weight for everything including the person' policy. If a child is charged the full price for a seat but only weighs, say, 30Kg why can't they have an increased allowance (and vice versa)?I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.0

A reinforced bum bag can carry up to 20 kilos of coins. I used to transport load of them. I've done it for years but since Easyjet (I usually fly with them) removed restrictions on hand baggage weight and now online check-in, it's not necessary to beat around the bush anymore.
Carry the bumbag the other way around over your butt and they wont notice a thing. Necessary only if you carry something really heavy and if you fly with other companies than Easyjet.0 -
For years, the limit has been 1 item of hand luggage, but passengers insist on carrying on:
- a maximum size bag, to avoid queuing at the luggage collect
- a laptop bag, because that doesnt count
- a duty free bag, to save a tiny amount on booze
- a handbag, because that doesnt count either.
.
Wrong on 3 counts, on most budget airlines.0 -

You're correct... now!
The budget airlines rigidly imposing limits has stopped this problem on their flights and I for one am pleased.
On BA, Lufthansa etc, the problem still exists and for budget airline passengers to suddenly carry 20kg each, in a bulky coat, is just a way for the problem to be brought back on board the Budget flights too.
My list of comments that you pointed out, referred to the attitude of the passenger, not the rules of the airline.0 -
I just managed to get a couple of car seat tidy's from B&M bargains at £1.99 each.
When clipped together and tied at your sides they make an excellent multi pocket waistcoat. My colleagues at work think that I'm on to a winner.

You only have to empty your pockets if you keep your clothing on.
After all that, when we got to our hotel I found his pen-knife was still attached to his keyring ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I'm puzzled as to why Martin didn't mention the cost of the 20 pocket jackets on the Tonight Programme. Or did he know in his heart of hearts that it wasn't 'money saving' and therefore thought he could get away without mentioning it?
It's also ironic that one of his most recent blog posts was actually written from BUSINESS CLASS on an airline. ITV must pay well! :money:
We bought some Cabinmax bags for a Ryanair trip. They were outstanding and worth every penny.

All very well, this, but the end result is that the bins are stuffed full of legitimate bags plus all these fat coats, so those boarding later have to shove their stuff under the seat in front and endure a flight without leg-stretching space - not medically recommended these days, as well as being very uncomfortable!:mad:0
