    Hi wlfc1

I hope you also have respectable antivirus and firewall programs operating as well as Spybot and Adaware.

To fix your problem go here ....

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html

    ...and download the program "HijackThis".

Instal it, open it and have it scan your computer. At the ends of the scan a logfile report will appear.

    Hi

I downloaded and did a scan, but it won't let me copy the results ( A dialodue appears telling me that I have to register or for the free trial press continue........but nothing happens??????

I am at a loss of what to do

You must have downloaded the wrong thing then. Click one of the links next to the flags on that page or from http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php

    Download From: [Choose a Location]
    Author's Site
    MajorGeeks TX - |USA|
    MajorGeeks TX - |USA|
    MajorGeeks FL - |USA|
    MajorGeeks FL - |USA|
    MajorGeeks EU - |France|

  • That's odd, I clicked the same link and downloaded hijackthis.zip containing hijackthis.exe dated 16/02/2005. HJT isn't a trial version so you shouldn't have got the prompt about registering.

    Try this.

Download a self-extracting copy of HijackThis from here ....

    http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/hijackthis_sfx.exe

    1. save it to your Desktop.
    2. Double-click on the file hijackthis_sfx.exe and it will self-extract into its own folder,
    C:\Program Files\HijackThis
    3. Go to this folder and run the hijackthis.exe file
    4. click Do a system scan and save a logfile
    5. Copy & paste the logfile into your next post here...
