  • Providing all spyware has been found and removed you can change your homepage by doing the following:-
In internet Explorer select File menu and go down to Internet Options,in the home page box type the address of the site you want as your homepage(I can recommend https://www.lufc.com:rotfl: ) click ok and your new homepage is set.

    Hi wlfc1

I hope you also have respectable antivirus and firewall programs operating as well as Spybot and Adaware.

To fix your problem go here ....

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html

    ...and download the program "HijackThis".

Instal it, open it and have it scan your computer. At the ends of the scan a logfile report will appear.

Copy that report to this thread and one of us will give you specific advice on how to remove that problem.

With any luck it should be quite easy but it does depend on what other issues the HJT scan report reveals.

All good suggestions but my two pennys....

If you have Windows XP, and know when your PC was hijacked, simply use the Windows System Restore (Start Menu, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore) feature to restore to a day before the hijack happened. Very simple process, and almost guaranteed to solve your problem.

When its fixed, make sure you get some Anti-Spyware (Spyware Doctor is reckoned to be the best, but not free), and Anti-Virus (NOD32 is my personal recommendation), if you havent already.

Using System Restore should always be the option of last hope (short of reformatting). With System Restore you always risk losing something along the way.

The hijacking mentioned here should be easily fixed from the HijackThis scan.

That said, the advice to get more protection tools is a generally good one.

wlfc1 ... let's see your HJT log report and we'll take it from there.

    .

System Restore does not always work for certain trojans or virus's, it is not unknown for a trojan to install itself into the sys restore file. Some people have safely removed spyware and trojons, only to re-install them using a Sys Restore.

The safest method once a system has been cleaned succesfully, is to disable and re-enable system restore. which will rid earlier berions of the SYS RESTORE file.

Maybe one day you could check out my log, just to be sure, I regularyl do a scan with Hijackthis, as one cant be too careful, but I confess the logfile is just too much for my feeble mind to ever comprehend. likewise I could only trust yours and Pchelpman's advice browntoa. ;)
