TV License loop hole?

you don't need a TV licence if the tv/pc is running off battery power - still says that somewher on the tv licecne website
http://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/information/secondhome.jsp
says so few lines down
Quote:
If you only use a TV set powered by its own internal batteries, you do not need a separate TV Licence.
you also don't need one if you only use it to watch dvds/video or use it as a computer monitor/for xbox etc
wolfman is correct. The above information only applies to a second home, and is purely saying that you don't need a second licence, not that you don't need a licence at all.
The following is probably a clearer quote from the TV Licensing website:You need a TV Licence to use any television receiving equipment such as a TV set, set-top boxes, video or DVD recorders, computers or mobile phones to watch TV programmes as they are being broadcast.Gone ... or have I?0 -
WE were briefed on this at work,
if you have a laptop your need a TV license ,it covers you wherever it goes, BUT if you plug the laptop into a power source that isnt your house they also need a TV license...0 -

Eventually in the last couple of years of his live he bought a TV (and became and avid soap fan - ugghh) - bought the licence and never saw them again .... maybe it's worth it just to avoid the harrassment)

Almost certain the government, sorry BBC will still want to charge you. Personally I think there should be an option if your with the likes of Sky to have the BBC channels disconnected to remove the licence fee, but fat chance of that ever happening0

I would be happy to pay the license fee to avoid watching adverts. However BBC has just as many irritating "adverts" for their own programmes which interupt my viewing. Why?"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I especially love the ones reminding how easy it is to pay for your licence fee!!!0 -
I have a licence for our house, but I use a laptop when I work away, I would be not expect to be hassled for a second device which has internal batteries,
I believe that the laptop is covered by the house licence0 -
Loophole................ you've definitely made me laugh. No b****y way. You would have to pay for one even if you were blind (although at a reduced rate). From TV Licensing website:
"The blind concession gives you 50% off the cost of your TV Licence. So a colour licence will cost £65.75 and a black and white licence will cost £22.00."
Best of luck if you think you can evade paying when using your laptop.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0 -

Ever noticed how many times a big news item on the BBC just happens to coincide with a documentary they are showing that evening.Happens all the time. The Jill Dando case was the latest the other night.Must have been reported on every news programme all day starting with breakfast TV.What goes around - comes around

I really do wonder whether they have detection equipment. If so they wouldn't need to harrass my neighbours - they don't even have an internet connection or a TV ariel (I guess they actually do something useful in their spare time :rotfl:
).
