Well I bought this car about 3 months ago

DSC_1310.jpg

a few days after I bought it, it started to over heat.

So I took it to the garage and they said it needed a new rad.

days after they fitted that it was still over heating.

So I took it to another garage and they said it needed a new Headgasket.

He also changed the cambelt, and oil filter

Car now has been running ok

But since he fitted all that I seem to have been topping alot of oil

Maybe a Liter every 3 weeks.

And yesterday my mate said blue smoke was coming out the exhaust.

Also, my Engine management light has been coming on and off recently

I really dont know what to do.

It is such a nice car, but stuff keeps going wrong.

I am booked in the garage this weds

I spent £120 on the rad

£650 on the headgasket etc

and £1700 on the car

I really don't want to get rid of it, cos I love it!

It might be the valve stem seals?

£1700 for an R-reg Corsa! Sounds rich, even if it didn't have a knackered engine.

Could be valve stem oil seals, but it could also be worn piston rings, or a plethora of other things, all of which will be expensive to get fixed (presuming you are using a mechanic and not doing it yourself)

If you must keep it, invest in a Haynes manual, some spanners and a mechanics course at the local college, as you are going to need them to keep it on the road without spending £loads.

The body kit it has means that it will have been red lined every hour or every day, so expaect problems.

I thouight it had a really huge spoiler on the back, then realised it wsas the fence lol!

No offence but I wouldn't touch something like that with a 10 foot barge pole..... It's clearly been owned and thrashed by a boy racer.

If your losing oil, you need find out where it's going.... Blue smoke to me indicates piston rings, which indicates a car driven harder than it was designed for OR the use of wrong grade engine oils.

For example, that car probably shouldn't be running on 0w40 or even 5w 40 oil....

You could try a higher viscosity oil, that might help keep the oil on the right side of the piston rings!!!

On a final note - You can't just slap an induction kit and chip an engine without toughening up the bottom end too, that's why and how this damage occurs.

I bought a 04 Honda sport and like you it overheated within a week,i called the dealer and they were brilliant, gave me another car while they looked at it,took them ages to go through everything but they fixed it,they kept me fully updated and fitted in with what i needed, you should have taken it back first time to the dealer.

I'm guessing it was a private sale. A dealer wouldnt sell on a boy'ed up motor like this...for this very reason!!

prob cheaper to slap a second hand/recon engine in it

£1700 is very very strong for an r reg corsa.
what size engine has it got?

My advice would be to stop buying Max Power and realise that an R reg Corsa with or with out a silly body kit will never be cool or fast. Part ex it for a proper car

So a boy racer, thrashed, 1.6 16v sport, Glass's values this at £800 with a conservative 90000 miles guestimate. Minus £790 for the stick on tat.
