Please take notice of what the_cat said - alot of sense is being spoken here.

There must be a comprimise that you can work out. You only have 4 more payments on the car, try to think positively.

Take those costs out of the equation and then work out what you've got left.

    Good luck.

    Thank you for that:)
I have just worked out that my car and two loans = £410
I have just under 3 yrs on the loans and the car ends in oct saving me £173 there - a drop in the ocean but something:)

Should i pop into the bank for a chat? will they be able to help me in anyway?

I doubt it. You refuse to do what you need to do and you won't listen to sense, so you'll probably end up losing everything including your horses. Horses are not for people who cannot afford them. Deal with it.

    what would CCCS offer me?
it's not jsut the horses, it's the two loans and the car finance also and the mobile and having to pay some things weekly, like rent and petrol.
maybe if i cut back on lessons to one a week and compared insurances etc on the cars and horse insurance.
and maybe rent instead of buying.......
Am i tied in with R&R? hope not..

my ex owes me £5k so i could chase him again...it was money i put into a house we were doing up...

The man from R&R wasnt going to disclose the horses and jeep....

    sounds dodgy

Well you have to then ask how he proposes to account for the 'missing' money between your income and expenditure, if he plans not to disclose the horses and jeep? - you could end up paying a lot more to creditors than the pitch he is selling you, and if it is discovered you both lied, it could cause a whole heap more problems than you're already in. I wouldn't touch this firm with a barge pole.

could you not sell the car and use the jeep for work and towing the horse box - you could then settle the car hp and put rest towards reducing cost of one of the others you've just taken out ?

Perhaps it would help if I told you the story behind my last foray into horse ownership

I owned my horse for about 7 years. Took him to shows, bought the jeep, trailer etc. The whole bit, just like you. I swore that he had a home for life and I genuinely believed it. However fate had other ideas. My OH was made redundant. Despite having no debts aside the mortgage I ended up with a choice of keeping the horse and paying his costs or feeding my children.

So of course he had to go. I found him a good home and he is happy. But it broke my heart to have to part with him and because I could never go through that again, I will never have another horse. Life has the opportunity of throwing a curve ball and leaving you with no options

I guess the point I am making is that you cannot 'know' that you will always be able to afford them. The closer you sail to the wind financially, the less it will take to tip you over the edge. I had no debts, yet still it happened. The less financially stable you are, the less chance you have of being in control if something bad happens. So it makes sense to cut your cloth wherever possible in order to have the safety net. Faced with that, surely incidentals like lessons and competing are pretty low down the list of priorities

Nina, i still don't see why you can't afford to pay down the overdraft etc right now.

    Income = 1410

    Household cost = 316
    Horse costs = 466
    Debt Repayment = 410
    Total expenditure = 1192

Amount remaining = 218 (plus road tax)

Change your account to one that you don't need to pay a monthly fee for.
Contact R&R and tell them you've changed your mind.

Right now you should have about £218 left over at the end of the month to put towards the overdraft. (I'm guessing you spend more than £40 per month on food though.)

Have one lesson per month and you have an extra £120 per month
After 3 months, you have an extra £173 with the car paid off.

From this it looks like you should have £500 available each month to put towards the overdraft or savings. (218+120+173)

Contact R&R, tell them you've changed your mind and will not need their services. Did you sign anything? If so, how long ago? Is there a cooling off period? Make sure you write to them (via recorded delivery) if you need to cancel anything.

Please look carefully at what you have in your expenditure and tell us if there is anything that has not been taken into account. Things do not look as bad as we initially thought, but you need to make sure you know where every penny is going in your spending.

  • Rather than committing to a mortgage at the moment I would look to rent. That way you can free up an awful lot of money that you have saved for a deposit and use that to pay your debts off. Once the debts are paid off you will then be able to re-save the amounts you were paying into another savings plan. I'm' sure in an earlier post you mentioned that your BF thought you should knock the mortgage idea on the head anyway - so he doesn't seem as committed as you to the idea.
You are on such a knife edge at the moment with your income and expenditure if you did take out a mortgage what would you do if something major needed repair/replacement.
I am not going to enter the debate about your horses, you have clearly stated your intention to retain them.
You sound like you are grasping at straws to get out of your current living situation - I think you need to give your self some space to consider all your options before you leap into something so binding.
