Not a good route for getting bargain fares.
Can't find anything for you. Sorry. Probably harder because it's a Saturday too.

I'm REALLY RUBBISH at finding cheap rail tickets. Can someone help?
Need to travel on the 10.02.07 and return on the 17.02.07. Going to CARLISLE from BIRMINGHAM and back. Traveling around mid-day ish. Cheapest I've found is about £61 return. Does anyone know of any bargains?
Although there are none available yet, there should be able to find £12 each way fares with a Virgin Advance ticket.
I checked Birmingham to Carlisle leaving on a saturday in january, returning the following saturday and there was good availability.
I'm not sure about how and when virgin release the cheap tickets but its a safe bet for me to say the date you want is not available *yet*.... Just keep checking.0 -
Oh Birmingham to Carlisle is a Virgin Cross Country route, so its just the 1 train and cheap fares should often be available.0

Word of warning for anybody booking GNER tickets online...Complete nightmare!
Booked up for a journey from Edinburgh to Morpeth on 11/2/07 then immediately realised i had booked wrong time.Contacted them immediately to find that they would grant me a refund..Excellent i thought...Then after three days no refund.
Recontacted the number again and got told so many different tales it was unbelievable.
Finally rebooked in person at Newcastle for same price.

Hi, I'm not really sure how to get the cheapest train fares and wondered if a kind soul could give me a helping hand
I have booked a room at the travelodge in Ilford, London on the 6th of January (saturday), travelling from either Barnsley or sheffield, returning on the 7th of January (sunday).
I tried National rail and the cheapest I can see for 2 adults and 1 child aged 14 is £66.40 + £20 for a family railcard for 2 single journeys.
This is probably a good price but seeing as I travel on trains about once a year, I have no idea if it is or not!Stopped smoking Jan 2007 after 23 years!Cigarettes NOT smoked = 240,945Smoke free days = 11 Years :TCash saved so far = £125,45,110 -
Given that theres only a week before you go that probably is a good deal, if you check prices for Sheffield to London you could get a fare for 2 adults and 1 child for just under £60.
This is without a railcard discount, so if you haven't got one (and don't need one) then this could be cheaper for you.
Of course you'd have to buy the London to Ilford ticket on the day, but you can either get a cheap day return or a 2 day travelcard/weekend travelcard and that will cover any sightseeing or additional travelling in Ilford and London.0 -

My personal experience in booking a day return, on a Saturday from Leeds to Birmingham Int last month, was that the cheapest Advance fares were not published until just 2 weeks before travel on Virgin X-Country. This is due to planned engineering work at weekends.
Looking at dates in January, you should be able to get £12.00 each way if you wait until nearer your departure date.0 -
Just booked 3 period returns to Edinburgh from Manchester at February half term for £2 each return on Megatrain!0

Hi sorry to be a pain but could someone suggest the best way to get a cheap ticket from wigan to heathrow on the the 10th of feb returning on the 18th. I have tried but can't seem to get anything except a saver return, was wondering if there was a cheaper option. If its cheaper i could go to central london first. Many thanks in advance!Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0

It should be cheaper to go from Wigan to London Euston - singles from £12.50 - although these look like they haven't been released yet as these two dates fall on a weekend. Then simply tube to Heathrow (£4).sorry no links in signatures by site rules - Forum Team 20
