has anyone ever got a free ipod/psp etc with a contract?

I've just got confirmation that my new phone is on it's way. It's got a free ipod with it, which I send for after my second bill.
They say this:

All electrical free gift claims are initiated by sending us your first two bills within 28 days of the date of the second bill. Bills received after this date will not qualify for their gift. Bills must show no outstanding money from previous bill and Claims are subject to you remaining on the same pay monthly tariff as you were originally connected. Please allow up to 28 days for delivery of your gift.

Now, I got an orange contract about this time last year (it's just ended) and I know that I won't get a bill this month cos the billing date is the 3rd of the month, this means next month I will pay two months line rental (this months and next months) soooo, do I send that bill when I get it on 3rd oct, or do I wait for the 3rd of nov bill (which will be me paying my third month of line rental). I'm kinda confused and seen as though it's saying bills received after 28 days after the date won't get the free ipod, I'm worried that I won't get it (main reason I chose this contract and not a cashback one).
Hope I made my point clear, I know what I mean to say but can't articulate it very well. lol.
