Duff Digital TV.

It would appear that not all TV’s are capable of receiving the full Digital service.
I have a Philips 26 inch flat screen HD ready Freeview built in all singing and dancing TV.
When the switchover happened I could no longer get the BBC Red Button Service that I enjoyed before.
Despite contacting PHILIPS by E’Mail and over the telephone (On a number provided by the Digital UK service, not PHILIPS) and despite constant reassurances by Philips that a signal over the air will resolve the problem, nothing has changed.
They recently had the cheek to send me a questionnaire asking “Would I recommend their product to others”. Answer NO NO NO.
Trying to learn something new every day.

The Freeview standard was modified during development, so some early models are no longer compatible, there should be a list on the UK Digital site. Is your model one of those affected?

Could also be aerial issues as in some areas channels and / or muxes were moved around.

The digital UK people acknowledge that Philips Identified that they knew this model Philips 26 PFL 5522D/05 had a problem but were assured by PHILIPS that it would be resolved by sending a signal over air. My Sony DVD/Harddrive recorder upgraded OK but its inconvenient to keep having to use this as a means of reading teletext when the TV was supposed to be a top of the range model only bought at the end of 2008.

Have a look at this link.

    http://www.ricability-digitaltv.org.uk/pages/products/idtvs/details.asp?Product=Philips%2026PFL5522D/05

You will see that the default setting for OTA upgrades is 'off'. Have you switched it on so that it will pick up any upgrade if and when it happens?

Keep checking the OTA upgrade schedule. http://www.dtg.org.uk/industry/download_schedule.php

Thanks for this. I visited both of your suggestd sites but I can't find a listing anywhere for my TV. Back to the drawing board.
