Today i parked in an arkward space in our local car park, i was so busy worrying about the angle i had to get in i wasn't concentrating on the front enough and hit a stone wall. I got out and saw a bit of a mark and brushed it off and went off, came back got home and have checked it. It isn't huge but a mess and tbh i'm really cross with myself, dh will not be happy!. We bought out car when it was immaculate and this is the second scratch i have put on it, again only minor but feel now there are 2 i need to get them sorted out.

Both are more than just a T-cut jobby and todays one will prob need some sanding or filling doing. There is a bodyshop place near where we live so going to pop up later and see them and a place in morrisons set up who deal with scratches and the windscren chips.
Are they a good bet or am i better taking it elsewhere?

I can post pics later if needed.
Thanks x

    Pics would help.

Prices and quality of work vary hugely. Try to go to a place which has been recommended by a friend. You could try chips away or a.n.other firm who will come and do the job at your home / place of work. http://www.chipsawaydirect.com/?gclid=CPLrjamu1KICFdIB4wodSW5dyA

Chips away are a franchise and only as good as the guy who serves your area. They have done good work for me, but not everyone is satisfied, see here> http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=99101

the place in morrisons wil be a chips away type of place personally i would avoid them if you want a proper job doing, repairing just the scratch you will never get a 100% paint match.
have you tried some compound to make them better?
post some pics if poss so can see how bad the damage is that way could advise better

If you go to a decent bodyshop they are likely to charge you about £300 per panel.

I've used Chips Away before and they did an excellent job on my car. I'd use them again.

    Hi thanks for the replies.

Yes chips away that's them. I will see if they are still there and see what they say as going over anyway. As for a body repair place charging £300 per panel..really? good lord they are only tiny marks! I wil post pics later on so you can see what they look like.
    Thanks again x

Well you didn't make it terribly clear that both marks were tiny.;)

And yes, to repair, prep and spray a whole panel, if that is the appropriate type of repair, will cost you that sort of money.

    Drive carefully.:)

having seen some of the so called repairs they did for the sales dept at vauxhall dealer where i used to work i would not let them anywhere near my car,i would rather have a crack at doing it myself with a halfrauds can.

OP the reason a bodyshop will cost a lot is because they will not just paint the scratch but blow it in across the whole panel so colour match is good.paint does not come cheap especially metallics,it will also then need clear coat adding and then flatting with 1500 wet and dry before re-gaining shine with some g3 compound.the car will then need polishing.so as you can see body repair can be quite labour intensive.

    Hi thanks for the replies.

Ok it's not really tiny, wrong wording! it's just not a huge scratch..either way i want it repaired or the car is going to look rubbish at this rate! I took it to a body repair place and he is doing it on Thursday for £35 i will do before pics tonight. He is doing a panel but the whole front (as there are a few other minor marks) will cost £130 so said to leave them as i can touch them up.

Most scratches are in the clear coat on top of the colour try a tin of clear coat from halfords etc you will be amazed at the result.
Test on an area that does not show first to get the method.

Hi thanks iltisman the reason i think it is more than a scratch is the fact it is actually indented so requires some sanding to smooth it out then be resprayed. If i just touch it up with the paint we have it will look ok colour wise but will still looked scraped if you see what i mean?!
