Vodafon Error Affects Credit Rating
My son had a contract with vodafon, allowing 28 days free use of a dongle. Because reception was poor where he was living he did not continue using it.
4 years later my son was contacted by a debt collection agency demanding payment of an outstanding sum of about £22, which he rapidly paid to avoid a credit reference bad mark.
After advice from me he emailed the Vodafon CEO, and rapidly had a call apologising for the obvious error, and offering refund as well as withdrawal of the credit agency reference.
All of this dates back to October 2009, when vodafon closed the free billing system and took customers off encouraging them to use online billing. Everyone is supposedly notified by post, but if you left the address 4 years ago, then that is no use!
Beware, there must be more out there affected.
