newbie!! Anyone claimed back PPI from First Direct?

Hi all!!
Took out a £3000 loan with first direct in 2002/2003 and sorting out paperwork I've just seen there was PPI on it!! I finished the loan in 2008/2009
can I claim from them if I still bank with them?

thanks

    Hi and welcome

I have not had dealings with them myself, but maybe others have on here.
Was it First Direct that set up and sold you the finance?

(Whoever set it up is the ones you pursue);)

If you have reasons to reclaim for being mis sold the ppi then yes you can, it makes no difference if the account is settled or active.
And of course if you bank with them too.
They cannot discriminate you for rightfully reclaiming what you have been mis sold.

They have to treat you fairly.

What you do instead of writing a letter to make a reclaim, you complete a FOS questionnaire (The financial ombudsman service) FOS recently issued these for that purpose for customers to use to reclaim the ppi from whoever sold the policy.

So complete, save a copy and they have 8 weeks in full to respond.

The link below is the guidelines of reclaiming, with a checklist of mis selling reasons, further down the page you will come across the FOS questionnaire as stage one of reclaiming.

    Hope this helps, good luck.;)

I have asked for First Direct to cancel ppi component of personal loan and they have agreed but they have stated that they will give us a settlement figure and we must take out a new loan without ppi, have not heard what there response is to misselling based on Nhs employee
and get paid while off sick and redundancy package included.
    will keep you updated

    Quick update,
Within 3 days of my enquiry to First Direct they have removed the ppi and set up a new loan for remaining balance
    saving us £294.
No update on refund of ppi however First Direct rep did say that they no longer offer PPI
