Or just remove the access hatch to view the info on the hard drive label itself.
All modern laptops drives are SATA 2 1/2 inch ones-only the capacity varies, which you can check in My Computer.

I have found out the hard drive make and model. PM SAMSUNG MP0603H
It is only a small hard drive 60GB, can I replace with a bigger one or does it have to be the same?

How do I find out whether it is a 34bit or 64bit processor?
In Device manager it is Mobile Intel (R) Pentium (R) 4 CPU 3.20 GHz written twice.

Hi there, your processor is 32bit. You can replace your hard disk for a bigger one but I believe it uses an older type of interface (not sata) so the cost of the new drive may be a little more expensive. Take a look at EBuyer, they do up to 320gb drives. :)

Can you tell me how you work out it is a 32bit for future reference. :)

Right click on Computer, Properties, it should say if running 32 or 64 bit OS.

Sure, take a look at the following spec's page from Intel, its the 'instruction set' part that tells you whether it's 32 or 64 bit. :)

Ah yes but can't you run a 32bit OS on a 64bit CPU? Not saying you would but OP was talking about the actual processor, not the OS type. ;)

Just looked at the e-buyer link at the replacement hard drives. I didn't realise I could increase it by so much.

Some of the System Summary information:

    System type .. X86-based PC
    Processor information .. x56 Family 15 Model 4 Stepping 1 GenuineIntel~3198MHz
    System Directory .. C:\WINDOWS\system32

Is it easy to replace a hard drive?

(I don't have an XP disc as it was an OEM OS with no original discs but I want to buy and install windows 7.)

    Edit
...and replace the battery if that's possible.
