Does Sudocrem Really Help Acne?

Sudocreme can burn the skin so needs to be used cautiously.I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

When I first started using it I was prescribed the higher strength (5 - they also do 10) and I had to stop as it was making my skin really red, dry and quite sore, but then tried again with the 2.5 strength and have carried on ever since.
I do find it can dry your skin out a bit, especially if you put it on the same area time after time, but I try and balance it out with moisturiser and it seems to work.
The only other thing I would say is to be careful of fabrics as it can (and does) bleach dyed fabrics! I only tend to use it at night and have managed to bleach part of one of my duvet covers (doh).
Thank ill have to try that i dont want to use to many products at the time just in case I end up with dry skin
However ive made a note of Panoxyl/Aquagel and I will try that if I have no joy with the quinoderm face wash.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
For me, Sudocrem was effective in the sense that it didn't make my acne worse and it stops any new spots turning into big, nasty, infected zits, but it isn't amazing at clearing up skin generally. Another good thing (for me) was that it didn't dry out my skin like a lot of other treatments do. Be very careful if going to sleep with it on though as it sits on the skin rather than absorbing, so it gets everywhere and ends up staining in much the same way that another white substance often found it beds does
Not great if you have unexpected visitors and you haven't made the bed properly!!
Never argue with an idiot; they'll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.0 -

Hi
Re the coke thing - apple juice is meant to be more effective at waking you up.
Re the spots - the only thing that has helped clear my skin up is liz earle cleanse and polish to wash, dermalogica daily microfoliant to exfoliate and dermalogica overnight bleamish gel, i seem to get away with any old moisturiser, make sure u moisturise tho and you must cleanse and moisturise twice a day and use the microfoliant once a day.
You could visit various beauty counters - clinique, dermalogica etc to get some samples and advice before buying anything.0 -
I was wondering anyone could help me?
Im a 33 year old male and at my age I still seem to get alot of spots on my face.
I eat a mixed bag of food sometimes I eat healthy and some times I eat abit of junk like macdonalds like most people do. I do have a coke a cola acddiction and I was wondering whether all the fizzy drinks was causing me to break out in spots?
Plus because im mixed raced half black half white when I get a spot it leaves blemishes/scares.
I use reputable exfoliation products etc on my face however they dont really seem to work like they used too.
I went into boots to ask for advice and was advised to try sudocrem. My real question is does it really help to reduce acne?
My ex husband who is now 50 still gets spots on his face, his scalp and on his back. He started using Neutrogena (sp) facial scrub for greasy skin and it dried up the majority of them (only one or two left) and if he keeps using it it keeps them at bay.
One last quickie, he also has scars on his face and back due to the spots but is not of mixed race English, he is white English. His father has the same scaring as well.Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p

A combination of using doublebase at night, and sudocrem during the day helped clear up eczema (not acne) on my little boy's shoulder when he was a baby.
Have you thought about natural products. Lush do some great ones for troubled skin. Fresh Farmacy, Aqua Marina, Dream Cream, and Dream Wash, are ones I can recommend as I have used all of them. I don't suffer from acne, but I am careful with what I put on my skin as I have had the odd patch of eczema in the past.
Having said the doublebase clears my eczema up far better than any cream the doc has given me for it.Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p

I second panoxyl, but not the gel. You cab buy the facewash its about £6. But you have to be consistent and use it everyday, twice a day sometimes. And although this will dry your skin, you must still moisturise, I use the garnier anti-spot one, (blue one with red dot on front). Another thing is, avoid touching your face during the day this stops you picking spots and stops the transference of bacteria.
Sorry, in answer to your question, Sudocrem does help with healing (I find), spots shrink quicker than when they are left alone.0 -

I thought Doublebase was a thick cream for very dry skin conditions? It worked wonders when I had dry, itchy skin on my legs but i never considered it on my face!
Does he find it greasy on his skin?0
