Why do you need to pay for this anyway. Old BT email accounts will continue working for ever provided you dial in to them every 3 months. In practise many of them continue to work for many years even if you don't do this. Premium Mail is just a con to get you to pay for something which is not necessary.
Even better is to get people to use your new email address - or buy a domain (less than a fiver a year) and use an email address there. Then you will never have an issue if you change provider.0 -
Because they dont they stop after X ammount of days & dont tell you when plus it means which ever isp i go to i keep the same email addy ive had for donkeys years rather than changing it all the time.& for £1.50pm for 9 email addys for all the family thats not a bad price0

£1.50? Didn't you write that it was £4.50??0 -
yes sorry its was £1.50pm now for some reason ive had an email from BT to say its going up to £4.50pm as of 5th july0

Methinks that the are simply taking a Quarterly payment rather than changing the price. I think they would be hard pressed to justified a 200% price increase.0

Id like to think so but here is a copy of the email that says £4.50 pm

I believe it is a quarterly payment being taken (3x£1.50) as I recently changed my ISP to VirginMedia (MB cable service) and chose to keep my email with BT (nearly 15 years of connections made via that address and I can't be bothered to change to another now!) via the BT Yahoo Premium Mail service.
The reasoning behind my belief is that I changed part way through a standard business quarterly billing period and so my 'BT Yahoo! Internet: advance notification of payment' message reflects that by stating 'Payment of £2.47 for your subscription option will be requested from your account on or soon after 30 July 2010'.
That too would explain why the pricings listed on the Premium Mail website still state £1.50 pcm.0 -
Following on from my last message I just today (16/08/2010) received another email from BT Yahoo telling me that the monhtly charge has increased and this time the message actually states 'monthly charge' and so there is no question that the price has gone up.
The new monthly charge stated in the message is £3.97 which is a 260% increase in cost versus the £1.50 price I was previously charged per month.
I originally decided to pay the small cost to stop the pain of having to change email addresses etc but I am now thinking again whether the new price is worth it. I could understand it if I was a super heavy user but I simply am not and to make matters worse the original BT website concerning the cost and details of the BT Yahoo Premium Service
( www productsandservices bt.com / consumerProducts / displayTopic.do?topicId=26502 ) still states that the cost is £1.50!
I plan to contact BT with regard to why the cost has increased and also on what basis the costs are calculated as I now wonder how my last charge (see may last post) of £2.47 was calculated after all. If\when I have further details I will post them here.0
