Ryan Air - The small print - Help and Advice

Having just noticed something in the small print, I wondered whether we could have a sticky, giving advice on how not to fall foul of the Ryan Air small print!!
We are taking one suitcase and 4 pieces of hand luggage. However, I have just noticed that you can only take one piece of hand luggage, including your hand bag!!! With Jet2 you can take a cabin case and your handbag! It costs £35 at the airport for additional luggage!!
Please post any other advice/suggestions that you may have to help avoid unnecessary expense.

Thanks for that, but it needs updated
However : it's really not small print about Ryanair and bags. It says VERY clearly that you are allowed one piece of hand luggage - quite why people think that one piece means "one bag plus the kitchen sink" is beyond me.From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -
Should this thread have "rip off" in the title?0

Of course, Ryanair made them book and worse - made them tick a box saying that they agreed to the T&C's!From Poland...with love.

Simply because other companies state 1 piece of cabin size baggage and they still allow your handbag/laptop etc, obviously not your kitchen sink.
Sometimes the T&Cs are so vast that it helps if people who have experienced the flights give their advise on any problems they had and if known how to get round this.ACII and Chartered so now I can focus on learning to play my beautiful Sax. 🎷0 -

Strictly one item of cabin baggage is permitted per passenger (excluding infants). Your handbag, briefcase, laptops, shop purchases, camera etc must be carried within your permitted 1 piece of cabin baggage.0 -
And be aware that anything you buy at the airport has to go into the one piece of hand baggage.0

Apart from telling you about the hand luggage restrictions when you book, it's on the web-site when you check-in, on the boarding 'card' and on the numerous e-mails they send to to get the message across. It's also clearly explained at the gate while you are waiting to go on-board (on the blue metal luggage size box) so really there can be no excuse for not knowing. Indeed it's not small print it's LARGE print, right in the middle of the boarding 'card' starting with the word WARNING in large yellow bold letters, there is even a picture for the benefit of very dim people.
I spent an interesting hour this morning at Bristol airport watching the passangers for the Riga flight jumping up and down on their cases to get them to fit, one lady pushed the bag in the size check cage but it took some time and several people to get it out again, who says that waiting in airports in boring!
I'm pleased to say my flight left on time and arrived 15 mins early as usual (based on the time-tabled arrival time) so I got the damn fanfare tune but never mind, for what I paid I don't care.
