I found the same thing with the 3 accounts. one is the savings account you nominate when you sign up the other I was told is if you are lucky enough to have overflow funds to pay in. (I wish)

Can anyone recommend a good current account to switch too. Not halifax or A & L

Does anyone know if there is a minimum income which you must be earning in order to be able to open the Premier Current Account?

    Cheers.

Can't remember them asking for that on the application form - think the main provisio is that you pay £500 into the account every month

I was looking at the online application form before, I'm sure there was a section regarding income. However as I've just finished my placement and am going back to uni in September I don't have a job so my income will be 0. Do you think this would count against me?

They do mention "Your employment or college details" are needed. Can't imagine those college students have too impressive incomes. ;)

There isn't a minimum, they just as the question look to see if you can fund the account with the £500 I think, and to make sure that your outgoings aren't more than your incomings.

I'm assuming as a student you get some sort of income to survive on, grant, loan etc....? I would personally just use that as you income as it technically is incoming, just not from a paying job.

Yeah, well I'm getting a loan this year but won't have a part time job. I saved up some money from my placement last year and am tempted to put this amount down on the application form. Do they do any checks with the amounts you put down, or could you just give generous estimates of income?
  • No they don't do checks like looking at bank accounts you have, employers etc, those questions are more for if it goes the underwriters so that they can assess your personal circumstance say if there's something on your credit file that means that the application isn't accpeted straight away.

And it's not beyond belief that you could earn over £500 p/m from family and other sources, a lot of students do.
  • I got refused for the premier direct account but they have offered me the premier account instead-if i'm not going to get the cashback for it there's not much point taking it is there?

    Are you talking Quidco cashback?

Did you apply before the latest change in the features?

If the answer to both is yes, then I wouldn't personally bother to be honest, since it's only 1.5% interest and no regular saver.
