A&L Premier Current Account - Questions

Hi,

I've got a couple of queries about the A&L Premier Current Account (the one where you can get the free £50)

- How long do you need to keep it open for after you've got the free £50? Or can you close it straight away?

- Can you pay £500 in one month then withdraw it and pay the same £500 in the next month, or does it mean that the £500 paid in must stay in the account?

Cheers.

You can close it straight away (after you've got your £50), but time your closure correctly so you don't get a £5 'underfunding' charge in the month you close.
    - Can you pay £500 in one month then withdraw it and pay the same £500 in the next month...
    Yes.

If they 'find' you with their credit search/electoral roll check, there should be no need to visit a branch/send ID in.
  • Hi

I've also got a query re: A & L Current account. I've just opened one to get the £50 offer.

I seem to have account numbers for three account and am getting a bit confused. One is for the actual current account. fine.
Another is for a plus saver account and one is for a regular saver account. I'm a bit confused as to what the difference is between these accounts and only the first two accounts are showing on my internet banking.

Anyone shed any light on this????????????

    Cheers

I'm a bit confused as to what the difference is between these accounts...
Everyone gets a plusaver account - it comes 'free' with the current account. However, it's interest rate is pretty poor - and certainly less than the 5% the Premier Direct pays.
...and only the first two accounts are showing on my internet banking.
There should be an option to 'add' the missing account to your online portfolio (log in and look around the 'summary' page).
  • I am going to open an A&L account (mainly for the regular saver). How do you get the free £50 people have been mentioning?
  • going2dierich - you open the account via an account at quidco.com, click on finance and then on the A&L current account. HOWEVER, if you click on the link you can only open up the Premier Direct Current Account which pays a great 6.1%.

There is no link on quidco to open the Premier Current Account which pays 1.5%, but gives you access to their 12% regular saver. I can't find the link anyway....

Is that a different offer from the "recommend a friend and get £50"? I was referring to the recommend a friend one (I know, I didn't make myself clear! :p ). What does this one involve?

You can apply via Quidco, and get £50 cashback.

    However, according to https://www.quidco.co.uk...

    1. Your incentive can take 2-3 months to be paid, and

    2. They'll deduct £5 from the £50, and

    3. You can only get this £50 for applying for the Premier Direct account - not the Premier (which has the 12% regular saver attached).

Also, according to the A&L voucher, applications from here will prevent you from putting in a £50 refer a friend voucher as well.

Applying via the A&L site directly means...

    1. You can choose the account you want and get the full £50 from your refer a friend voucher.

    2. The £50 payments are made much quicker (probably suits you better?) - within a month of initial funding in my experience.

    3. You could close your account down sooner (reading between the lines, that's what you intend to do?).

I've sent you a PM with further details.

In answer to your 2nd question its also dead easy to set this up as a SO on A&L internet banking so it will all happen automatically.
