Rebtel... Please Tell!

Hi guys,

First post in here and hoping to get a big response as I have read many posts and see how clued up you all are!

Basically I have a friend in Sweden who I talk to a lot for free on Skype.
However this is starting to get less practical as it is house based, so I can't use it on the go.

I have been looking for a way to call him for free or 'free' while on the go off my mobile.

I have just signed a contract to Orange so have 300 inclusive minutes each month.

Originally I planned to download the skype app on my mobile, but my friend doesn't have free internet on their mobile so this would not work and would drain my internet quota quickly I think.

So this brings me to Rebtel. Found out about it from main MSE page, and from what I have read on the forum I still can't make out if the free calls are actually free.

Both myself and my friend would be able to get the Rebtel app on our phones and with my free minutes if it actually makes a local number that is free to call, id be quids in.
However it does seam far to good to be true.

Sorry for the big essay but what I am basically asking is...
Does anyone in here use Rebtel on their mobile?
Are you on Orange or what network?
Does it actually work out as free?
Do you use the app?
What is the quality like?

Please please please give any help you can! I will be very thankful for it and can't wait to finally have a clear answer!

Adam :j

It looks kosher enough but I would be wary of where it says they provide you with a "local" number. Does this mean an "08" number? If so, it'll cost you anywhere between 20p and 60p per minute to ring it, which'll probably be more expensive than just paying for the call in the first place.
If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

How it works is explained here.

    http://www.rebtel.com/en/Learn/Make-Free-Calls/

The calls to the local UK access number they provide you with will first come out of any inclusive minutes left ( which of course you're actually paying for via monthly fee or payg top up. ;) ) once they run out your be charged the going rate.

The same applies to the reciever of the call when they ring back to their local access number.

You can call the UK access number from any UK network.

    Quality of call is reasonable.

Only 37 destinations are covered by the Free Call Scheme.
