IE8 slow for anyone else?

Internet explorer 7 wasn't too bad (;)), but I found so many problems with IE 8 that I stopped using it ages ago. Use FIrefox or Chrome - you'll be much better off.0

My wife is using IE8 and is constantly frustrated by the speed (or lack of). This is partly the fault of many website designers who seem intent on bloating their HTML with uneccessary features etc.
The code for Internet Explorer (version 8 or otherwise) is actually integrated within the 'Windows" Operating System (particularly with the "Windows Explorer" file manager - among other things). Exactly why Microsoft, in their wisdom, decided to do this is a matter of debate and no small amount of conspiracy theories.
However, I mention the fact here as therin may lie something of the solution to your problem. In short - have you ensured that all Windows updates have been applied to your PC system ? The absence of a patch or update to one part of the system can, and often does, affect the operation of another - for a variety of technical reasons that would probably bore you into a catatonic trance.
By default updates are turned ON - so unless you have changed the setting my suggestion is probably redundant. In particular, if you are running the Windows XP operating system, then make sure you have Service Pack 3 installed. If not you can get it from the Microsoft Downloads website .
I appreciate that you run scans and other housekeeping measures regularly. Nevertheless I would recommend you try running an online malware scan from F-Secure. This is my tool of choice. It's free (and effective!).
I hope this is of some help.

Any other problems other than IE8 taking ages to load?
Have you run virus/malware scans, if so what with?0 -
Consider the advice offer carefully, much of it is useless at best. Neither IE9 nor Firefox is a miracle fix, they may work better on your system, they may not.0

Further to my previous post I'm just wondering if it might be worth your while installing an Add-On like Serenity Ad Blocker or Proximitron. I appreciate that installing more software might appear counter intuitive in this case but if Internet Explorer is having problems rendering pages due to Java appelets etc this can provide a solution. Perhaps it's worth a try.
