Any payg sim cards not requiring regular top-up?

Hi,

I'm trying to find a pay as you go sim only card that does not require a regular (monthly) top-up.

My father wants a mobile phone for use in emergencies e.g. if the car breaks down, needs collecting from the station. In short, the phone may go for months without use, but it needs to have credit just in case. A requirement for a monthly top-up will mean more and more credit accumulating. I already have an old phone he can use so just need a sim card.

Grateful for any ideas/suggestions?

I'm sure there are other people in this situation.

Cheers,
Chris

Not sure there are any tbh. This old thread maybe of some help, the bottom line is, make a chargeable call every so often (180 days?) to keep your SIM active so you don't need to keep topping up credit.

As KillBill says....you need to make sure there is at least 1 chargeable call within a 6 month period (time period may differ for each network, so check the small print) to keep the sim active. There is no requirements to top-up monthly unless you want the freebies that come with each top-up. i.e. free minutes/text/data. Otherwise its standard PAYG, credits have no time limit, but you will lose it if the Sim gets deactivated due to inactive use after 6 months.
