Help with 3 Mobile

We took out a mobile phone contract with 3 Mobile 18 months ago and have had nothing but problems. So on 26th May, we contacted them to cancel the contract and give 1 months notice, during the conversation we stated that we may want to take our number with us when we leave and the person on the line said no problem and gave us a code. They also said that the contract would end on 26th June.

We decided to get a new number and didnt use the code. Today, well over a month later, we switched the phone on to get numbers of it to put on a new phone with a new provider and found it still had signal etc.....

So we contacted 3 who have now told us that as we didn't use the code, they need another 1 months notice to end the contract!!!!

Surely this isn't the case and they are trying it on?

Any one have any advice about what to do?

No, they are correct. If you don't use the code within 30 days the contract continues. They would have said the code will expire on 26th June.

Afraid that is the terms in all mobile companies. If you dont use the PAC then the contract continues. Bit of a harsh lesson. Only if you cancel contract without the PAC then it stops a month after u gave notice.
  • Thanks Guys...So the person on the end of the phone lied then!! So just another pile of crap from 3 mobile....They are abysmal and this is just the icing on the cake of their service in the last 18 months! When we called to complain about signal strength on the phone and that it was really poor, the guy on the phone said ''no problem, it's the phone, we'll send you a new phone and you send that one back...'' We did and they tried to bill us for 2 separate phone numbers!!! They claimed we'd agreed to another contract and only believed what we said as we had recorded the call with a dictaphone because of all the problems we have had and played it to a manager down the phone.....We recorded this call too and it can clearly be heard that the Contract ends on 26th June and also that we can use the PAC code if we want but if we don't use it within a month then we can't take the number across and will need a new number. Nothing mentioned about another months contract.....Does this make any difference?

^ 3 didnt lie, if you dont use a PAC within 30 days you need a new PAC.

Not using a PAC does not close the account as you agreed to do so requesting the PAC, the next month does not need to be paid (as you are out of term) IF you get a new PAC and port the number to a sim on one of the other networks - doing this closes the account & absorbs the rest of the 30 days billing/notice.

If you do it today your last bill will be 26/6 until perhaps Monday 5/7 as ports happen Mon - Fri which is better than be billed from 26/6 to 26/7 for the misfortune you needed to educate yourself in such matters.
If I helped or saved you money - Thank me
If I helped you spend some money - spank me
    If I done both - :lipsrseal me:eek:
