Blackberry Bold 9700 - cracked keyboard!

kcwild

Hi,

I just noticed that the keyboard on my Blackberry Bold 9700 is cracked!
All of the chrome inserts in the keyboard are cracked on the right hand side, I only noticed when pressing the enter key I caught my finger on one of the cracks which lifted one of the chrome inserts a few millimetres out.

Does anyone know if this is a common problem? I've never actually dropped or mishandled the phone so I'm wondering how it could have happened.

If anyone has had the same problem, how/where did you get it repaired? I've had the phone around 7 months so I'm sure it’s still in warranty

Thanks

KW

The chrome bits in between each row of keys are just chrome painted plastics. Plastic trims are prone to flaking or cracking under pressure, they are not very strong and are only there for cosmetic appeal. If its still under warranty you could get it replaced, the place that network/shop that provided the phone should be able to sort that out for you. If not you can buy a replacement keyboard yourself for £5-£10 if you're confident about taking your phone apart or get a local market stall/phone shop to do it for a small fee.
