Morning all
Happy 4th of July to all American peeps
Happy birthday to honeybee's DD!
It's cloudy, windy and threatening to rain any moment here. I've put WM and it's on airer on balcony to get a blowing til the rain comes.
I have quite bad period pain at moment so feeling sorry for myselfI'll be ok once the painkillers kick in.
I'm going to have a DVD day I think, cwtch in and read books whilst watching films. It's that type of day. I may bake something too. I have subscribed to the Cook Vegetarian magazine as it was on offer for £1 an issue, there are always loads of yummy recipes in it. This month's issue came yesterday so I have that to read today too.
Have a good Sunday all

Good Morning All
Happy October! What do you mean its not October?, it looks and sounds like it up here, monsoon rain and the wind is howling round the side of the house! That my plans for a peaceful morning gardening finished anyway.
Happy Birthday to Miss Honeybee!
The boys stayed at gran's last night so coco and I had the house to ourselves, which was lovley I watched acrap film on telly and had a curry and talked to a friend of FB for a few hours. The site here was playing up like mad and I lurked and had a read about, too. Today's plan is to empty the kitchen cupboards and clear the mountain of old plastic boxes. Some of them are really delapidated and missing lids, etc., I bought some nice new stuff in Lidl the other day, and may need to go back for more on WednesdayIf anyone has little ones at school, they have their filled pencil cases in from today, I always get the boys these, they are great value, and I get some others to put away for birthday and Christmas gifts, too.
Hope you all have a fab day, I know I will, OH is home tonight, 24hour whistlestop tour;)

Good morning everyone. Hope it is ok to join your group I am caroline jane and I have been lurking for a while and finally plucked up the courage to join yesterday. I am afraid I will now get very little done
So much to read and learn I am very excited. It is a lot cooler here today which is a shame as I had hoped for a little chill with a book in the garden. Instead I will have a sunday chill on mse I think. I have a piece of chicken for my dinner and may have a look at some of your recipe ideas to make it a little more interesting. I have a wash in now which certainly will get dry if this breeze continues.

Morning all
Wet and windy here today but it is drying up so should get out nice later. OH was working til 1am last night and woke up starving and wanting McDs for breakfast...who am I to argue?not OS or MSE but it was lovely and I am just finishing my coffee.
I have two chickens out to cook today - was going to do chicken dinner but not sure I fancy it. Might end up being chicken curry for the twins and in a pasta bake for us (boys don't 'do' pasta) and i've a recipe for a chicken risotto for the slow cooker which I could do for tomorrow.
Trying to rest foot as much as possible, especially as I have lots of MS work that can be done over the next two weeks - want to get my foot better so I can crack on and earn some money!
DH is working the boats next friday so is praying for calm seas :rotfl:and he's booked to work the Monday & Tuesday after as its bank holiday here for the parades.
Not much OS planned for today, think we'll just play it by ear

so far i have made a beef casserole ( in slow cooker) , made a madeira cake, tidied, hoovered, sewed up dd2's school trousers as she bent down and split them on the crutch :rotfl: tidied up the front garden and planted some bits and bobs in the back garden tidied up and moved things around
its so windy it has just taken the hammock swing across the garden , i have had to dismantle the sunshade to stop it happening , I love it when its windyi find so exhilarating

Hi Guys!
Hope all is well.
This week has been pretty manic, but DD is thoroughly enjoying herself on work experience. Next week she is on 2 different sections of animals. She has mainly been with the giraffes and a couple of other big animals. So far this week, she has met Louis (sp) from Pineapple dance studios and Jedward were there earlier in the week, but not really bothered about them. Apparently she did a robot dance with Louis (how embarrassing for us as parents-shameful!) She is leaving home at 6.10am every day and lucky to get in by 6pm!
Our garden is doing very well and yesterday we got some beautiful new potatoes, strawberries and onions. OH has germinated organic cauliflowers, sprouts and broad beans and they have all grown well and will be ready to plant in the ground next week. Salad leaves are lovely and we have growing peas, runners, carrots, beetroot, butternut squash, rhubarb, raspberries, radishes, blackberries, gooseberries, blueberries, blackcurrants and the chillies (2 types) are doing great and flowering well. We also have a huge amount of mint which will go lovely with the new potatoes, chives and parsley. I think we’ve done well and most have either been from pound land or eBay. The lady who is doing the gardening ATM has suggested 3 hrs every other week which I think is quite economical and practical for us as OH still can’t bend down and we will be saving money with not having to buy the food we are growing as we have been cautious to only buy what we usually buy and eat.
We were sent a Tesco £50 gift-card for re-joining Sky last week plus we got a 50% reduction for 12 months which I haggled J I know it’s a luxury, but we don’t have the movie channels or the sports, so it’s not too much of an expense each month. Anyway, we used the £50 towards filling the freezer with meat and got some great offers from there. They had 1.1kg of pork chops which I cook slowly with cream of mushroom soup and it portioned 2 for 4 servings, a lovely beef joint which would do a meal for 4 plus a few rounds of sandwiches, 1kg chicken breasts which has been portioned for 3 meals for the 3 of us, leg of lamb which will easily serve 6 (guests?), 2 kg minced lamb which will do 6-8 meals for 4, 2 finest HUGE T-bone steaks for dinner tomorrow, 4 butter packs, cheddar x 2 packs and loads more. Very pleased!
I am seeing consultant Friday, so think I will be admitted then as I’ve been told to bring my bag. Should be in for about 7-10 days but will wait and see. We’ve got 2 weddings to get too through August, so really want to make it to them if I can. One is local (uptown) and the other is about 2 hrs away, so staying with friends for the weekend. Both quite snobby affairs….lol…..but have bought one wedding gift from list with mainly (£30) a JL voucher that we won last year and the other we have gone half with friends on something bigger using money from selling old set of OH’s golf clubs that I didn’t know were worth anything. Have wedding outfits that will be fine to wear and I get a chance to wear my posh handbags that don’t come out much now! Fingers crossed, I will be well enough to get to them.
We are trying to clear out junk that we have accumulated over the past few years as we are using the office as a business base, so have free cycled a lot this week. Been trying to keep on top of the washing and my helper has been great this week. New meds the doctors have me on slow my heart rate down and gives me very low blood pressure, so whenever I sit up, I feel dizzy.
Anyway, I hope you are all well.

PP - very jealous of your daughter's work experience! Sounds like she is having a fab time! Good luck for the hospital xx
So far today I have made salad for lunch today and tomorrow, a lentil pie which will be for lunches/snacking this week, hard boiled 3 eggs for lunches/snacking, and made a sponge cake. My friend has invited me over for early tea so will take the sponge over there.

Afternoon,
Just had the mother of all torrential rain storms here this morning. The garden has now had a good soak and the sun has now appeared so hopefully the plants will come away a bit.
Had a fun night out with the girls and not too sore a head today. We all spent very little so I think we will be doing the 2 for 1 Pizza Express deal again.
Just done my very first online grocery shop, naturally through Quidco and with discount codes. It was exciting! So that's coming tomorrow lunch time. I think I will keep doing it as it will stop me buying random stuff when I'm strolling round the supermarket. Plus the time I have now saved will be better used doing fun stuff.
Off to make some 'Bottom of the Fridge' soup in the slow cooker and then maybe watch some tennis.
Have a lovely Sunday everyone xSpreading the gospel that is Martin Lewis to the future generation....I'm a Home Economics Teacher and being thrifty is the way!:A0
